Title: 1982 IGT Fortune 1 Draw poker machine
Post by: Btomlin99 on September 27, 2018, 05:35:04 PM
I Just got this 1982 IGT draw poker machine and there are a few things that need attending to for it to be in working condition. The screen will only show a little bit of what should show and everything is just an outline. When nickels are put into the machine nothing changes on the display either. I have pictures of the screen and main board in hopes somebody knows what may be missing or malfunctioning so I can try to fix the problem. Thanks!

I would try cleaning the circuit boards edge connection with a pink pencil ereaser. Then slide it back in making sure it clips into the other connector on the mother board. Then see if you get a better picture.

Sometimes the antiquated reset circuit is at fault, attached is a fix.
Pulling out any device in a socket and cleaning their legs, till shiny, with a pink eraser is another good start.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to clean everything out with a pink eraser and update if anything changes!

The white erasers work better than the pink ones. The white ones show the black tarnish that comes off of the edge connectors.

I would suspect there is something on the screen that you are not seeing that would give you a clue as to why it is not taking coins.
My gut would say door-open issues or coin comparator / mech ?

Older monitors often benefit from a Cap Kit. Older electrolytic capacitors dry up so replacing these is a good idea. If your getting one of those Loony Tune circles in the middle it could also be the main power transistor that needs to be replaced.
