I have an IGT Jokers Wild video poker machine.  I don't know anything else about it, PE/PE+ or anything to identify it more correctly.
This issue is that it kind of works, e.g. it accepts and counts coins but none of the buttons work. If I put 5 coins in it deals a hand.  But then nothing I press has any affect, no dealing/holding cards etc.  The buttons light up but pushing on them does nothing.  I also don't have a manual and would very much like one.
Please any help would be greatly appreciated.  This is my first machine and I know nothing.

Open the door, tap the white test button, you should go to input test where you can test your buttons.
If none of them show on / off activation on the screen when pressed it could be the normally closed contact on your test button that is bad.

Looks like an IGT Fortune 1 to me based on the graphics.  I'm moving this post to that section for now, unless someone has a different opinion as to what machine the OP has.

Here are some more pics of the inside of my machine.
Please direct me where I can get a manual for it?
Also, I have no "white button" on the inside.  I have a black one but it does nothing when I press it.
I briefly depressed it and I've held it for as long as 30 seconds.  Still nothing.

So, I'm thinking that since the buttons light that it might be the interface board.
Does anyone know where I might be able to buy a replacement?

Stu:

You are in great hands with Badbaud on the case.  He is without a doubt the best person on the planet when it come to these games.  I am sure that you will be up and running soon.  Your game brings back memories for me.  It was my first Fortune 1.  I fell in love and now I have 5 of them.  Beware, this is an addictive hobby.

Before suspecting the I/O board check those four 3 pin plugs on the top back of the backplane board.Re seat them, wedge the wires on them deeper into their wedge connectors. They are in series with buttons.

See attached for LED indications on the I/O board when a button is pressed.
Worst case you could send the I/O board and computer board to my shop for evaluation on my Fortune 1 test station.

Thank you Badbaud.  I was starting to get really worried this thing was so old I'd get no help.
I reseated as you recommended.  Still does not work.

I'm attaching a pic of the led light lit on the board when powered up.
I'm thinking it's the deal draw button?

Yes it looks like deal draw is stuck on, have you tried slapping it with your finger to see if the light ever goes off?
There are a series of optoisolators on the MPU board that read those buttons, they are turned on and off when a corresponding LED is turned on and off by pressing a button.

If you have one bad or stuck buttons on your machine, it will not work.. The led lights on the I/O only light as the buttons being depressed.

I can't speak to the Fortune 1, but on the PE+ I know that the buttons are also wired in series.  I believe it's possible to attach the wires to the wrong poles on the cherry switches for the buttons which can cause the machine to see a button as being stuck on when it's not being pressed.  Can you post a picture of the wiring going to the first few buttons so the Fortune 1 folks here can verify if your wiring looks correct?

Thank you everyone!

How do I get to the buttons wiring?
It's not obvious to me how to open up the door panel to gain access to the wires switches etc.?

A couple of nuts hold the switch panel to the door.
Remove those and the panel drops out of the front of the door.
Support it because some of the wires are very thin.

Badbaud is correct about the wires being thin. So, be careful with them.

If, I remember correctly.  There is an inner do that will swing inwards.  This door is the one with the ballast and coin handling on it.  I believe this is held into place by a spring pin or, a screw or two.  Those retainers will be on the side towards the locking slide bar side of the door.  Once it is released you will be able to see the bottom part of the buttons and what you will be working with.  You will then have easier access to remove the front switch panel.

Does anyone know what color wire goes to which pin on the switch/button?

Also, in the case that doesn't work does anyone know where I can purchase another button?
