CHAMII+ C14 error code
« on: May 27, 2020, 12:30:07 PM »
Hi, I have a IGT S2000 Double Diamond Strike. It came with a CHAMII+ SA. I don't belive the gentelman I bought the machine from had it working. I have read the different streams, and thought I could get it working. I went into the machines settings and programmed it to  as follows:
7.3.1.1 game 1
7.3.1.2  game 1:Denom .25: level 1
Stand Alone: level 1
None: Disabled
SAS: Disabled
Link: level 1

I have the CHAMII+ Disp set to:
JPLIMIT:  YES
#DISPLYS:1
JP GRP: SA1
MFILE:5
ODSPEED:10
FONT: FLIP18
SIZE 70

It displays : 003 followed by C14. I have the manual, so I know that the C14 is a selected machine serial setting is not supported. I do not know how to fix this or what the 003 means. If anyone can help me out that would be greatly appreciated.     :banghead:    :EmoticonHelp4:

Stand alone should be disabled .
I don't see any connections from J7 plug in your picture.
That is how the data is transferred to the stand alone controller to the machine.

Do you have the Mikohn PSP software and a serial cable to program the Mikohn ?

Thanks for all the help. I changed the stand alone to disabled, so now I am getting no 003 but still C14. Also The machine is now displaying "progressive link down".  I am adding pictures of the CHAMII+ with the cable connected (the other picture was before I made the cable). Please let me know what I need to do now. If I need to program this is there anyone on the site that can do that?

Your connections appear to be correct.
Have you tried to program the stand alone unit or you do not have the cable and the psp program?
You are getting close.

Cable must be made. Not hard see attached.

If you haven't replaced the rechargeable VL2330 battery on the stand alone unit you should. Most are pretty old and are required to hold the programmed data when the machine is off. A new battery will hold the data for 2-3 months. So you must power you machine up every few weeks if you have one of these units. This is a rechargeable battery do not replace it with a standard coin battery.
Not a big issue if you have the psp program but if you pay to have your unit programmed and the battery goes dead so does your money spent to program it.

OK here is an update. I made the cable to hook the CHAMII+ up to my computer. I hooked it up and programmed it and it is now working!! But the machine still has "link progressive down" on the display and will not play. I checked the cable connections. The machine is still set up as before. Any suggestions?

I have an S+ (predecessor to the S2000), On the S+ we have a 4 pin connector for the progressive. Pins are Coin in, Data, Ground and Unused.
When a coin or credit is played there is a momentary contact between coin in and Ground which increments the meter - this is the basics for the ChamII+ regardless of what system its used with.
The older CON1 devices did not even have a data line. When the progressive is won the coin-in and Ground are shorted until the jackpot reset key was turned. This is what triggers the Cham device to know that a progressive has been won.
[/size]
on the S+ the data pin is optional, if its connected .... and.... when the progressive is won it displays the progressive amount in the winner paid on the slot.
On the PE+ (video poker of the same era) the data pin is required if you want to see the progressive amount on the screen. Otherwise it just says progressive.

I am wondering if your S2000 either is not seeing the data pin and declaring link down ?

Alternatively the S2000 may have a NON-LINK progressive or "other" as I believe that IGT has their own proprietary NetPlex progressive and the "other" setting may allow it to work with 3rd party progressives.
Incidentally Mikon was absorbed into PGI (Progressive Gaming International) which was then bought by IGT before being basically buried.

Hope this sort of helps.

After you programmed what is showing on the display?
What are the settings on the first page of the PSP screens and did you load successfully to the CHAM2?

Just read through the whole thread again. Qbert pointed out J7 as his first reply.
Has this been resolved ?

Yes he fixed J7 I believe he has all of the settings correct on the S2000 and hooked up properly.
I think the problem is some of the settings on the cham2 from either the PSP uploads or basic cham2 settings.
If the progressive value is showing on the display at least we know he can send data via the PSP.
I don't know type of computer or operating system used or type of hook up serial, usb ??

Well everyone it's done it is working finally I have no hair left. I found a gentleman in Michigan that face time me and help me through it but there was still an issue four hours later figured out I sent them pictures of the cable and found out it was wrong the wiring was in the back of the holes instead of in the front holes in the front still it would not work then come to find out I had the white and the black wire crossed so changed that still didn't work so then come to find out the white wire was not connecting properly so I fixed that and now it all works beautifully so everyone out there that helped I really appreciate it and thanks to everyone I just wish someone would put a video out how to make the plugs and how to set this up it would make life a lot easier on everyone who wants to put these in thanks again Brent :dancing_2:
