Title: 044 Piggyback Problem DSPL0002
Post by: Stayouttadabunker on November 29, 2020, 10:10:38 PM
Where's a good source of these Winbonds dips guys?
I TOTALLY detest using a UV eraser....they are scrap!

STT had good EEproms before and Mouser carried them but I can't find those ones anymore.

I got a bunch of M27c801's from a guy down in Rochester but I keep getting errors when trying to make a DSPL0002 program for my ancient 004 piggyback board using the GQ-4X....not only that, the programmer cannot I.D. these STM27c801's....frustrating!  :duh:

I keep getting errors (no sound for example) when I try to use the one I made as a backup.

I end up having to use the only one good one I have.

I wish Winbond did make a DIP 27C801 equivalent, but if they did I've never found one.  Unfortunately you're probably stuck with 27C801's from China which most are counterfeit and only work 80% or so of the time.  Order 10 and expect to toss 2 of them in the trash.  Just the way it is.

First of all you would only use a DSP on an 044 when you have a legacy board with 3902 software. The correct DSP is DSPL0006. DSPL0002 is for S2000 enhanced.

Good stuff guys!
Using the DSPL0002 on a S2000 piggyback.
The 044 has a flash piggyback with Wolf Run - doesn't need the DSPL but good to know about the DSPL0006 use.

Did a little research, I had found a link to a cross-reference sheet that does show that Winbond does NOT make the 801's too.
