Title: Senet errors
Post by: ThirdGenAmusement on May 22, 2022, 02:43:33 PM
Senet issues.  Grrrrr

Igt S2000 5 reel using a 1270 board and getting meter disconnect. The candle doesn't respond to error flashes or service switch.

Here's what I've done
Disconnect 7 segment display
Disconnect coin betline display
Bypassed hard meters
Coin bypass in place (coin less machine)
Disconnected back lit reel driver
Disconnected the Netplex items for a just in case except the vfd.

I've tried a known good board with same results

I've put the 801 card in with the cabinet cable going to it and buttons work in test

Tried replacing all I/o cards with no change.

Only thing left is the mother board.  What's your thoughts?

I swapped out the mother board with no change.  I also disconnected everything but the reels including ballasts and amp.  With nothing but the reels and the vfd connected I get coin in Jam error.  Install the 45 deg i/o card with the cabinet connector connected to it, I get meter disconnect.  I can put the cabinet card in and it makes no difference.  Meter disconnect.  Not sure what else to try.  MPU, Motherboard, multiple i/o cards have been tried.  Only thing at this point that hasn't been swapped is the vfd and so i might try that even though I dont believe its a senet device.

Any other ideas?  This is very strange!

I always thought the 801 I/O card is for single row button decks?
If you have a double row button deck, I think you need 802's.
I could be wrong on this.

801 has to be in the slot thats on a 45 degree angle only will cause addressing issues in the other slot

Thanks for the thought and info.  I did try 802 also and had the same issues.  I did trace the wires for the meters all the way back to the back of the cabinet i/o card and there was no breaks.  I did measure the voltage for the circuit of pin 9 and 10 of the hard meter connector and get about 3v.  So at least there is evidence the circuit is there.

I did swap bfd for giggles since it and the reels were the only other senet items plugged in and there was of course no change.  Swapped power supply, disconnected amp and fluorescent ballasts.  Nothing changed.

I know with senet just because its saying meter disconnect that it may not be the meter.  I will check the harness in the door for evidence of broken sheathing or wire damage but above that, I am out of ideas.

Just to be sure, you have an 801 in the angle slot, and 802 in the vertical mount? That is how they must be.
Have you tried the MPU in another cabinet?

Thank you lookes. Yes, 801 in the 45 holder, though I can't get far enough to really try the 802 I have a few including all the I/o cards from working machines.  I did try swapping the mpu I'm the subject machine and another 5 reel machine that works but the subject machine has the same issue unfortunately.  And I've replaced the mother board a couple of times.

Ok, not sure I found the problem or not.  I believe it to be the Jack or someplace in the harness that goes from the cab senet on the mother board to the door I/o card.  The Jack was not loose but as a last resort I pushed the wires connected to the pins that make contact too the motherboard on both ends and the darn machine fired up.  I even cleared, keyed and did the most basic set up if the machine.  The BV lights up to accept money but isn't so that'll be the next step though I really want to get to the bottom of what's causing the Senet issue for sure!

... I really want to get to the bottom of what's causing the Senet issue for sure!

It really sounds like pin oxidization or someone lazily pulling on the wires instead of the Molex housing bodies.
Chances are those are the same underpaid guys that nonchalantly forget to turn off the power when pulling on wiring / electronic parts and go "oops".  :duh:

Spray various connector pins with De-Oxit.
It WILL promote better electrical pin contact....especially if you've received a dirty, corroded s2k cabinet that was at one time stored in a damp corner in a parking garage basement of a casino....lol...I'm not joking! I've seen pictures of this!

Thanks for the idea Stayouttadabunker.  I did go through and pushed the wires to reseat the pins in the connectors as well as sprayed de-oxit on the connectors and so far the machine is working 100%.  Getting it cleaned up now!
