Title: midas touch help needed
Post by: theycallmewayno on December 13, 2014, 09:25:41 AM
Trying to fix this for friends. The reels keep turningvand acting almost like a calibration. Slow twitching reels. Is there a reset procedure??

There is a small button on MPU board. Look for round hole at bottom middle of MPU case. Push button and hold in while powering on. Hold for about three seconds. This resets the RAM and may clear problem.

First off, thank you for your response. I looked inside the machine and towar the back there was a case with hole in bottom. Its small so i tried sticking a pen inside but it doesnt feel like there is a button. I tried anyways but nothing happened. Im unsure if im even doing it right.

Ok, let's backup. Is this machine an older Universal or is this an Ultra Series machine? Ultra Series will say Ultra Series on reel glass and has lighted reels.
Also, Ultra Series has the mpu board horizontal under the reels. Where is the mpu board??

A pic would be nice!

If it is an Ultra Series, there are three tiny buttons on the front right side of mpu board. Hold all three down while powering up.

ok , i will try to post a pic in my next post. I haveto go to the friends to do so. There is no mpu under reels so it must be older. Non ultraseries.

I have a Uni that the reels will do that when the lower bottom fuse has popped. Try checking fuses

So thank you guys...the mpu reset worked! I do have a problem though. The lights on the machine dont work. Is there a switch there too? This is a universal machine.

Glad the reset worked!
I don't think there's a"reset" button for lights tho...but there could be a burned out light fuse perhaps?
Maybe burned out lamps?
We don't know if the lights worked before?

I get mine at a local electrical shop.
When they don't have any, they're always ready to order whatever fuses I need.
I'd at least put a multimeter on the ones you have in your machine now to check for continuity to see if any are burned out.
Always get the right ones needed.
Do NOT buy the slow-blow fuses - always get the quick-blow fuses.
Remember, a fuse burns whenever there's a short somewhere so do not check fuses with the power on your machine!

When you say lights, what lights are you referring too? The large fluorescent bulbs, the small incandescent bulbs, the win meter LED's???
