I am getting a bill validator com error. All three lights (green, yellow, and red) are solid on the bill validator. I have successfully used Bill Validator for 2 years without issue. Any suggestions?

Sometimes, the heads just go bad or needs to be reflashed. Do you have another head you can try?
-
Thanks for the reply. By the heads, do you mean the small circuit boards that stick out of bill validator? I plugged in a different mars bill validator that I have in an aristocrat machine but there was no change.

I don't know for sure if Aristocrat uses the same communications protocol as Bally. Does you bally head (the whole yellow thing) work on your aristocrat machine?
-
Just checked, and it appears bill validator works in my Aristocrat machine, so I think the validator isn’t the problem. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Rarely do the Heads just go bad, the belts usually wear out or damage/spill to the optics.
It is more than likely the Board between the Head and the housing. They fail often. Pull cash box and Head and it will slide right out. Usually Green from memory. If both the AP2 and Aristo have same amount of dipswitches on the board swap and try the Aristo one in the AP2. Please don't ask what a dipswitch is.!!

Problem identified. Thanks Jim for the advice. You were right as usual...

So what was the issue? Was it the control board?
-
Yep - it was the interface board between the bill validator and harnesses.
