Title: Bally Alpha 2 machines
Post by: Delma on February 17, 2021, 11:55:28 PM
I have 9 of these machines in my room and all are the same but one is different. I have all of the other going but I'm really struggling get the top screen on this last one to work. I've tried primary and secondary VGA's, given it power more than one way and nothing. On this machine unlike the other there is a Iview 3.0 in the back when the top screen is flipped up. But it has no power. I'm wondering if this is the issue. These cords coming from this Iview 3.0 that i have looked inside this machine for days and yet to find out what they plug into. Please look at the pictures below and see if you can help please. If there is something that's not explained enough please comment and I'll respond

Is this last machine a Firelink too? or a different game?

Looks like a 22/22?

Yes it’s a fire link as well. Apart of me putting things back together from the thief this is the only machine I’ve placed cpu back in and still isn’t work. Well at least not the top screen. It’ll actually load the game up on the lower screen.

What lower screen?  The IDECK?

No sorry the middle screen works, the lower ideck doesn’t work unless I switch the vga cords. Then it just shows whatever was on the middle screen.

You just can't switch without clearing the machine first.  Make sure all the connections are tight.

Yeah like I cleared all the other machines I cleared this one as well. Still can’t get into setting up the machine bc I can’t get the top screen to work to go through settings. All connections are tight. If this is a V22 could that be the issue? It’s the only one that has this Iview 3.0 that I’m not sure how to get working or if it’s needed. I’d imagine if it’s there it’s needed but I can’t seem to figure out how to get power to it.

The Iview is for player tracking so you don't need it.  Your descriptions of the problem are so vague.  When the machine boots up does the large screen display the Bally splash screen?  When you say you can't get to the settings is it because the large screen is blank?  or when you press the white button nothing happens?

My apologies. No on boot up everything lights up but the only screen that’s actually on is the middle one. Above the ideck. The top screen doesn’t cut on at all. I’ve flipped the screen up to check the connections and connected some things differently. Managed to get the orange light to turn green but still nothing on the screen. It’s just black and shows nothin. Even on boot up. I’m saying I can’t set it up bc I’m only getting one screen to show. When I use the clear card I can see the instructions telling me to turn the key to clear and when I clear and boot back up the setup options are there.....it’s just on the wrong screen.

I have to say that I'm still confused.  A v32 does not have a middle screen like a 22/32.  The machine you are trying to fix should have a topper with a screen, a large vertical screen and an ideck. Please boot the machine up to the point that you can't get into the setup screen and post what each screen looks like. Also post a pic of the entire machine so we know what we are dealing with.

I think rick nailed in the above post. "looks like a 22/22"

That's why I asked for a pic of the  machine.

This is the machine. All 9 that I have appear the exact same on the outside. Only this one in particular is different on the inside. The vertical taller screen is what I can’t get to work that I’m needing to work. They all have the topper, vertical screen, screen below, and ideck. Only this one when I flip up the vertical screen there’s an iview 3.0 in it. The other don’t have that. That’s what I was trying to illustrate in the first post. Sorry for the confusion. I keep saying top screen but it’s the long vertical one I can’t get to do anything.

It is a 22/32 machine playing a v32 game, that explains the confusion with the MIDDLE screen........Is that machine stuck with that bally splash screen, is that the problem.  It does not go any further?

No that’s was the first problem. You guys originally helped me with. I was able to obtain a clear card and set those others back up. This particular machine unlike the others will not show anything on the vertical screen. Not the loading os, the Bally logo, nothing. It all shows up on the smaller screen below the vertical screen. That’s the only screen that I can get to work.

Disconnect video going to the 22" screen at brainbox and plug in the 32" vertical one where the 22 was plugged in.  Leave the 22" monitor unplugged.

Tried that as well. Hell I took everything that was plugged into the 22 and plugged it into the 32 vertical and all that did was make the light in the back of the vertical turn from orange to green. Should I clear the machine and then do this bc I’ve tried leaving nothing plugged in but power, primary vga, and primary touch connected to the vertical and still nothing. The screen just won’t come on.

If the led turns green and you still get nothing on the screen, then you probably have amonitor issue.  I would lookk at the power supply of the monitor for bad caps, if the power supply is good, then you probably have an inverter or backlight issue.

**Update** New screen off of one of the other 8 working machine that I have. Bright side the screen will now cut on on the power up. Bally logo, loading OS.......then the 32 vertical goes black (while light remains green) and the screen below it relays this message in the picture. At this point I want to be 9 for 9 but idk what's going on at this point. Ive tried almost everything I can think of. Please help. This last machine has me pulling my hair out!!  :hissyfit:

Well, I’m guess no one has ever seen this screen which makes things even worse.

What does it say on the labeling on the back of the screen?

Shoot a picture of the label and I'll find some documentation on it for ya.

My apologies on this one. It has been resolved. It ended up being the AD board for the monitor. Once replaced the problem went away. Machine is up and running
