Title: Universal Y90 no LED.
Post by: Caliwebman on December 17, 2017, 11:57:21 PM
Hi all, just wanted to say thanks a lot to all of you for having worked on these various slot machines for so many years; the info here is priceless and know that your sacrifice does not go unnotice

Well, as I was picking up a slightly broken slant top the customer asked if I wanted to take another project off of his hands and I obliged by saying sure. However, after reading the mass amount of work you all have done on these things I am second guessing myself as to picking this thing up. It is a Universal Y90 (I know this nomenclature if wrong) and while all of the lights appear to light up it is the LED that appears powerless. Simply put, I get nothing from the LED's.

So I think what I shall do is post some pics of this machine up here and then perhaps with a combination of the work you all have already executed on these forums I shall use that previous work combined with any tips and hints and such that any of you may be able to provide me with here. Rest assured, I do not wish to waste any of your time nor make for any duplicated efforts. Plz let me know if more detailed pics are needed.

Thanks again to all of you,

Scott

looks like the power supply is disconnected from all the plugs.  plug the two connectors into the power supply, the three prong connector is the power coming into the machine, the other connector is the output from the power supply, there might be one on the right side of the power supply as well.

see what happens when these are plugged in.

Jim, thanks a bunch for pointing this out but unfortunately I had the same issue when these were plugged in. I am sorry but they were unplugged cause I was looking into how to remove the PS for inspection. Any other ideas? Thanks a bunch!

these power supplies had a common problem, inside the supply there is a filter, usually one side of it opens, if you by pass the filter it may get the machine up and running,  with those two plugs in the power supply, you should be able to read +5vdc on the pink wire.  you usually have to remove the reel assembly to undo the connections on the side of the supply. remove the two screws on the front and the wire connection guards. make sure you are getting 115 vac going into the supply on the three pin connector.

Again Jim, you are killing it and I can't be thankful enough. Check out the pics of the filter from inside the PS. It was fried! Yanked it out, re soldered wiring, put er all back together and Wvala LED works. I can also add 3 credits from the red button inside and then spin reels and play it but for some reason the same thing appears to be happening here on the CC as is on the Sigma ST. Place a quarter in and it just sticks prior to the CC and in the top of the CC. Tried adjusting to no evail. The LED seems to be barfing out some kind of strangness by displaying a bunch of EEE's? See pic. also, notice on the wires coming from the CC that they dnt have a polug and so I guessed on which of those wires should go into the female plug and since the red light on the cc is lit I believe I have it right. Just would like your professional eye on it.

Thanks again oh master -o- slots!

appears you don't have a sample coin installed in the cc-16,  it needs the sample to compare and to set the openings, etc.

Ok Jim et al, I feel like a true idiot in the fact that I never knew these camparitors needed a sample coin. hehe! So I placed a nickel in the Sigma and a Quarter in the Universal and wham! They both worked like a gem. Thanks again Jim, you are appreciated!
