Igt game king Alien randomly resetting

Hi Everyone,

I have a IGT Alien that is resetting and need some ideas on what to look for. History of the issue us the machine was working fine. I had not used it in a few months and yesterday when I turned it on the low battery error came up. I replaced the battery and when I turned the machine on I got two errors, a ram error which I cleared as well as a processor error. I reseated all the chips and the machine booted up. Now the machine randomly restarts when sitting. If I am playing the machine there seems to be no problems. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. When the game restarts the fluorescent lamps do shut off and come right back and the mpu reboots

Two words.  Power Supply.

You think power supply? Machine was working great before the mpu was pulled to replace the batter. The machine will not shut down unless the machine is idling. If the machine is being played it dies not reset. I will throw some caps in it tonight and diagnose.

Yes, that'd be the first thing I change based on what you've stated here.

Yep , had one doing the same thing today and yes  it was a power supply.

Ok, I have an odd duck of a power supply in this machine, it has a sanken Ho45w, would Anybody have any information on this power supply, schematics, cap list?  I have tried to research it and there is only three oost in the net about it and two of them say this power supply is not made for a slot machine which I disagree with. I was attempting to do a cap kit on it but I cannot find any schematics for it.

Post a picture of your machine from the outside and a picture of your power supply.  Pictures have to be less than 1MB to post, so resize as necessary to get under that limitation.

Thanks.  I thought maybe it was a power supply out of an early game king.  I haven't Sanken power supply in an I-Game/GK.  3Y, Autec, Win-Tact, and Condor are the 4 manufacturers I've seen, guess there's a fifth now.  Don't know if you'll have any luck finding schematics for them or not.  If you just want to recap it you can get the values and working voltages off of the ones installed in it.  Personally, I'd just get one from Jim at Midwest slots or any of the vendors on our home page.
