Title: Eprom Backups 27c64 27c512
Post by: RipMcKeyster on February 25, 2023, 10:49:45 AM
Hello I've been searching here and seem I can't find the answer or I just don't understand. I have a GQx4 programmer and I have no problems backing up my IGT S+ eproms, but when it comes to offsets I'm completely brain dead. Lets say I want to burn a 27c64 reel prom to a 27c512 game prom. I know I have to copy it 8 times but I can't figure it out no matter how I read it and I also have some reel proms copied on  27c512 from a 27c64. Lets say I was to take the 27c512 and copy back to a 27c64 how would I do that without it being to big? Hope that makes sense. Thanks for your time....RIP.

A hex editor is the easiest way to convert a 2764 to a 27512 and visa versa.  To go from a 2764 to 27512 you just copy the file to the original 7 times that takes it from 8k to 64k like you said.  To go back from a 27512 you'd take the first 8k (0000 - 1FFF) of the file and delete the rest.  I use Hexedit 3.0.  It's free, easy to use, and it works well.
