Title: S+ Double Diamond Issues
Post by: therockinelvis on April 10, 2014, 01:58:07 PM
Just got this machine so I did not see it work. Everything powered up as usual, but no coin in and no dbv and no sounds. Pushing the white coin in button played and spun reels. I tried using a set chip to turn on dbv and set denom. Would not go into menu. I pulled a working board and installed and the coins went right to the hopper without adding credits. Cleaned coin optics and all was good. Put original board back and same problem. Then I noticed it was a different type of board. It is the second pic. Is it the 16mhz board? It has no switches and the volume pod is not soldered on. Is there different ways to turn on options on it? SP is 1145. I have chips in a 10mhz and everything works except the sounds. I have gone to option 2 and turned on along with 5 for credit and 9 for dbv. The board that came in it is brand new. If there is a way to use it let me know the settings. Thank-you-very-much

It is definitely a 16mhz board.  Get the PSR here and setup your settings.  PSR says you need SET 90.

Thanks Rick. I will put everything back on 16 board and give it a try once I get a set 90.

OK so everyone knows. I used the set 90 and set the denom. and BV and now everything including the sound work's as should. A side note, if you put a 10 mz board in place of a 16 the displays will be weak and flicker. The machine will work just not perfect. Thanks to everyone for the help and another learning experience.

With all due respect, this is not a correct blanket statement.  You may have a problem with your 10mhz board.  A standard S+ machine will function normally (including the displays) with either a 10mhz or a 16mhz board.

I have to agree with knagl on this one....10mhz and 16mhz are like apples and oranges.

Apples and Oranges are different. haha. I'll have to check that board again. It lit the displays in the machine it was in, but was weak in this machine. Also noticed that one thin flat plug was not used on mother board (on bottom). It was wire tied to the harness. Plugging it in did nothing.
