Title: G23 625 how do I power dongle farm?

Hello, just picked up a dongle farm and It only came with a usb, I have a G23 v2 and have a 625 brain box do I need an additional cable to power it up or is there an existing cable on my machine that does that?

I guess you would have to unplug the built-in G23 dongle farm and use that cable?  Transfer any other usb to new farm?  Have you tried all the usb ports?

If you have SHOW BOOTS you would not need a dongle farm.  Otherwise most dongle farms just use the USB connection to power up the farm.  However, there is a limit to how many dongle the machine will support before dongles wont be recognized.

I am having trouble with my G23 , I’m getting a bv offline I’d:0 error and I had read that the USB ports sometimes go bad and using a dongle farm fixed the issue.

I have not plugged in the dongle farm yet. I do have another interface board for the Mei bv coming hopefully that will resolve it

I unplugged the USB from my BV and booted it up and it let me play.
The BV lit up but would not work.  Got this message when inserting a bill or ticket: unavailable at this time

I found that if you have too many dongles plugged in it will take the BV off line.

So does anyone know where the square 4 pin connector is that I need to run power to the dongle farm? I have a G23.

On a G20 there are extra four pin square outlets on the back plane that are labeled "Spare" I believe. Not sure on a G23. The backplanes are usually labeled pretty well but can be hard to read. Picture is off ebay and to me looks like it has 12V and 24V plugged into it.

There are no extra square 4 pin ports on backplane of G23.

Well, crap. I was hoping there were some spare power connections on a G23 backplane like a G20.

I believe I read a post by Rick Hunter saying that the 4 pin connection to power the dongle farm on a G23 was located on the sound board. Is that in the brain box? Anyway I was talking with someone from Ellery Gaming, they had sent me the interface board for the bv and he was saying the board and bv head probably need a different firmware so I will send them both and see what happens
