5.0 SIMM too tall now "Game Type is not Linked error" Game King

Hi all, I got a solid deal on 5.0 software to update my 3902 board. Did the very careful transfer of roms and installed Simms and keychip, wouldn't you know the taller Simm does not fit in the machine when installing. This is a round top GK where the main PCB installs under the IO.  Am I doing something wrong? Should I be using a daughter card of sorts? Thanks in advance.

That is a CGF simm.  It goes in the slot where your sound simm is at.  You need a mml2 board for the sound simm.  The slots are labeled.

Thanks, I looked for some type of labeling and didn't see anything. I see the Simms on the left labeled as J6, J7, J8, what goes here? The black sim I thought was the sound data since the sound rooms were there originally.

The CGF goes in the black simm slot. Remove those chips that are there first. Sound simm goes on a MML board that piggybacks the MPU.

The two pixel simms go in the 3 vertical slots (pick any 2 slots) The tall simm (CGF) goes in the horizontal slot all the way to the right  The simm labeled DSS is the sound simm and it goes on a MML2 daughterboard that you don't have.

Leave them alone, they should be correct.

Hello I got my MML board and I think I may still not be understanding what goes where. after installing everything and using keychip 40 I get a Game Type is not Linked error.

The two Pixel Simms are on the 3 white slots (one slot is empty), the SNDF is on the MML board. The CGF 1of3 is on the black Simm slot under the MML board. The two old CGF rooms under the CGF Simm are removed. I'm not sure I have my GME 3of4 and GME 4of4 chips in the right place, right now the GME 3of4 is on the PXL1 slot and GME 4of4 is on the PXL2 slots.

Is the all correct? If so I'm cycling through colors and finally end at the not linked error.

It's installed correctly, but your software is mismatched.  M1001 and C1189 are for GK5.0, but your G2822's are for GK5.1.  You need a set of GME's for GK5.0.

Wow, great eye (or great experience). Based on the xls file I downloaded here it looks like I need G2823. I'll see if the seller sent the 2822 incorrectly or if I just have to bite the bullet and buy some 2823's.

I think you meant G2833.  There's several GK5.0 GME's that will work with your base and pixel versions.
