Title: Wells Gardner K4900 - Do I need to replace the flyback?
Post by: edoleu on December 03, 2020, 05:33:28 AM
I recently acquired a machine with a 19” Wells Gardner K4900. I recapped it and it looks pretty good. The focus is a wee bit off, but the adjustment knob on the flyback is cranked to the limit.

Will replacing the flyback resolve the focus issue? Or is there something else that might be throwing things out of whack?

Try backing off the high voltage knob on the flyback, high voltage being too high can also cause fuzzy picture.

Thank you! I'll give that a shot. Much appreciated!

There are two knobs on the flyback, "SCREEN" and "FOCUS". I adjusted the screen knob a bit, but the focus didn't seem to change. I have a spare flyback and filter cap for the K4900, so maybe I'll pull the chassis again and swap those two out. (I don't think the filter cap is bad, but I figure I might as well replace it if I have the chassis out of the monitor anyway.)

Thanks again!
