Title: dead monitor
Post by: 61Wally on December 12, 2021, 03:59:16 AM
I have a TATUNG E832-90 monitor in my Bally gamemaker slant top. No picture, Noise nothing. I have another one and it works fine in the game. Any suggestions as where to start troubleshooting this piece of equipment?

That is exactly how mine behaved when the high output transistor (HOT) went out. 4542 on my board.  Its the big one mounted on the aluminum frame near the flyback. Im pretty sure there is a schematic in the downloads section, if you are a contributing member.
There is also a bi-polar capacitor (C19 on mine) that is known to go out.

As always, if you are not CRT literate please research how to properly discharge the tube. I had one that came on for a millisecond before shutting off and it was enough to charge the tube. Never take a chance.

Thank You, That is so true. I had one back in college that got me good, I only discharged it once and it had rejuvenated enough to kick my but. I really appreciate the shortcut you’ve offered. I will go check those parts out tomorrow and reply. Have a FANTASTIC HOLIDAY SEASON. I’m a contributing member, so I will look for more information as well.
