Title: Bally 6000 Progessive setup
Post by: Border01 on August 06, 2019, 04:54:37 PM
I just got a Bally 6000 Treasure Chest that has a progressive. It had a dead MPU battery so I installed a new one. Did a clear but have error 5.2 under the win paid. Progressive says C1 and than $0.00. No clue what to do next?  Any help would be greatly appreciated

I found an older post here. I’ll try to change settings on the machine

You have to program the Mikohn progressive with a computer to fix the C1.

Get the manuals for the s6000 in the download section.

Weath of information here.
Have fun.
I have replaced the battery with the same type rechargeable that they came with and I  have found the machine can be unplugged for months and the progressive still retains its memory

It's hard to explain all that progressive stuff in one sentence!

Did you get the 52 error to clear? Check your:
52 | Bill Acceptor Stacker Access | The Stacker access Switch Senses the Door is Open.

Yes the 52 code was a bad bill acceptor. Got that fixed. I know absolutely nothing about Bally I haven’t figured out how the top glass comes out. Pretty sad. The progressive set up might be over my head. Maybe I’ll at least attempt to change the battery.

Check the voltage of the battery in the Mikohn and then leave the slot on for a while and see if that battery will charge up above 3 volts. I have never changed that battery but some of mine only keep above 3 volts for a very short time.

The cabinet should work without the progressive display. I think you can also bypass that in set up. Once you get all the tools together the programming isn't all that painful.

There is a little clip on the bottom of that top glass you need to depress from inside of the cabinet, in the top middle.

Do you recall where you got the battery.  Mine is at 1.3v is a Vertical mount solder in Panasonic VL2020

Ebay they are also used in some BMW key fobs.
Hard to find with exact PC board upright solder terminals. Easy to run a small wire on one if required. New VL2020s work really well.
Hardest part for you will be finding an old laptop with a serial port and making the jumper wire.

I would let that battery recharge before I would replace it. If it doesn't come back then replace it.

The progressive will not come back on its own. If you don't program it you're probably just going to disconnect it. Its easy to program but finding an old computer with a serial port and making the harness is the worst piece of the puzzle.

I put the board back in. I’ll see if I can recharge the battery.

The game does play properly, just $0 progressive

When I lost my progressive programming I think it shows C1 and then $0, C1 and then $0, C1 and then $0, on and on.

I am not sure which PSP file to download for setting up my Bally Progressive.  There appears to be several V2.0?  Also curious if the boot disk could be created on a CD or does it have to be a floppy disk?

2.0 or 3.0 will work. 3.0 is newer the only thing is the files created for the unit are not interchangeable. If it was created in 3.0 a 2.0 PSP program will not see it.
CD boot disk should work fine.

Great thanks.  Got a lap top, made the cable, just waiting for the battery.  Crossing fingers and hope I get it
