Title: Bally S9 problem
Post by: Jim on January 30, 2017, 11:36:47 AM
Have a Bally Quick hit,  5 reel/ 20 in monitor, 512 brain box.  machine has worked fine for a couple of months.  for no reason listed on the display I get a call attendant message.    I usually open the bottom door and look around and close it and the message goes away with out doing anything,  the message is coming up more frequently, and with some other symptoms,   display's have dots instead of numbers.  still no indication as to what is going on, just says call attendant.  when it did this I did notice one of the two temp. leds was on, orange,  could the cpu  fans  going out cause something like this. any info. posted in the machine that would indicate what is causing the message??  power supply LEDS are all on and the fans in them are running.

Thanks

Jim

If you turn the jackpot reset key with the door closed, it should say why "Call Attendant" is showing up.

Jim,  I had a couple Bally Alphas S9000 last year, and I noticed that most of the fans in them were bad.. I think I changed one in each of the MPU's I had as well as in the power supply's.. I don't remember if I had to change any cabinet ones.. I do remember the side cabinets screens were plugged with dirt..

I found that the fans and caps on the power supplies are a common problem on any used PS. The two PS in the lower cabinet and the one PS in the MPU. You can see the swollen caps that will need replacing. The cabinet fans get plugged up also and raise the temps inside the cabinet. Check the fan on the back of the display also.

Also, Try taking the MPU out and pushing it in harder. Sometimes when the MPU isnt seated all the way in. A nice firm push. I had this happen with both WMS and Bally MPUs. I would get random errors. Tried this and never saw it act up again. Just a thought and worth a try.

Make sure all the fans are running. Take the MPU out and plug it into an outlet. Check and see if all fans work. Very common for these to go out. Hopefully its not too late
