Title: Horrible Cigarette SMOKE Smell on Slot Machine (How to Fix?)
Post by: Dirty Slots on October 22, 2022, 02:26:03 PM
Has anyone got a slot machine home and realized it smelled like smoke? This is my 15th slot machine off Craigslist and I have never experienced anything like this. Day 2 and it's turning my entire house into a dive bar. If I don't figure out how to fix the problem, I will have to sell the machine...and move it outside until then.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys!

Username checks out.  (Sorry, I couldn't resist that one  :24:)

I haven't had any machine that have been really bad, but I use mean green (dollar store spray soap) to clean the machine up.  That shit will eat the cigarette tar right off of the machine.  Give it a try.

Awesome, Thank you! This is one Dirty Slot, to be sure. But I love her! Fun machine. 5 coins in at a time. I'm able to win some real money!

I have had good luck clearing the smoke smell in machines with reusable Bamboo Charcoal Air Purifying Bags that are available from Amazon.  Just leave one or two inside the machine and let them work.

That's interesting. Do you have to continue using them or does it just clear things up after a while?

I had two stinky machines. I put one pack in the lower cabinet, and one in the top. Took a couple weeks, but the stink is gone. I tried cleaning easily accessible areas, and boxes of baking soda. These bamboo packs work.

Cigarettes smoke, in slot machines is problematic in that it also caused the machine to fail. I clean the machine inside, outside, each part, and the tar, nicotine is embedded into everything. Cleaning is the real solution, every part, cabinet, inside, outside, everything. The machine will operate 100% since it doesn't have that goop interfering.

With the one stinky I had it was more the backside of the glass that was the culprit.
I filled the bathtub with warm water and baking soda and let them sit for a while then using a kitchen scrub brush (which I threw out afterwards) cleaned them up.
I also did the same with the coin tray as it was easily removeable.
They didn't look much different but that bath water was disgusting.

While the glass was out I removed the hopper, lights, MPU and wiped everything down with a cloth - I used warm water and vinegar.

I was not anal enough to remove everything bolted down like the power supplies and such but years later I still sniff vinegar whenever they are opened.
