Title: S+ ERROR CODE = 1
Post by: Miket3 on November 19, 2022, 03:16:06 PM
Just got this machine. Used for 5 days. Now lights come on. Bill acceptor initializes But has red lights. Lower candle flashes green fast. Coin hopper led light is off. Coin comparitor light is off. Coins Played = 0, Winner Paid = 1, No Buttons are lit. Can't run any tests.

I'm guessing some new chips might be needed

Does it take coins?

It was... but now they all pass through... and the compare light is off...

It does not light up when door is open.  Try replacing the coin in the CC.

Coin hopper led light is off.

Can you show me a picture of this "LED light" on the hopper?   :scratch-head_3:

I'm no longer near the machine.  It is a green led on the PCB. It's visible but not in your face visible...

The number 1 in the Winner Paid display is not any kind of error message.

Try removing the bill validator stacker box (cash can) and firmly reinsert it, and firmly close the door (and latch it, if equipped) to the stacker box.

Also consider re-seating the sample coin in the comparator and adjust the sensitivity to make it less likely to reject coins. I posted a video on how to do that, here:

Nope... None of that did anything...

Check door optics alignment.

I agree with a69mopar....anytime the bottom candle is flashing, that means the door is open - in other words, the optics are not "seeing" each other. So that keeps the machine in an "open" state. The only way you can get credits onto a machine when it's like this, is by the Service Credits button on the bottom of the coin-in optics board. You would be allowed to press it up to max credits as the game would allow.
Usually techs use this to check various operations of the machine without actually inserting any coins.

Anyways, to check the door alignment, watch the [Coins Played] LED on the reel glass display as you slowly and incrementally move the door latch up and down while the door is physically closed.
If you make the number in the [Coins Played] go out momentarily, and then come back on, you have a problem with the door optics alignment.
There's various articles and statuses on NLG on how to align the door optics with a pen and masking tape.
I could make you a short video on how to do that but I'm nowhere near a slot machine until tomorrow.
If you cannot make the number go out by moving the door latch, then the door optics (door emitter optic or cabinet receiver optic) are suspect.

from everything you describe I think you have a Bally machine, they typically have three LEDS on a board mounted to the hopper, Splus machine does not,  help us out here and post a picture of you machine.  it has to be under 1 meg in size or it won't work.

just kidding ourselves, until we know what type machine you actually have!!!

I suspected the optics... by flashing candle.
One of the optic wires was broken.
I disconnected both optics and made each of them a closed loop. Wasn't sure if it was the right way to bypass... but there was a youtuber who did same thing.

you have a s plus machine,  and you may have fried something shorting the wires together, hopefully not, un do that , and purchase new optics and start over.

Now I know what you have on your hopper.
There IS a small board on the backside of some S+ hoppers which actually uses optics and a coin lever roller.
Each time a coin pushes up the roller of a lever inside the bowl over the knife, the other end of the lever on the outside of the hopper bowl passes thru a set of optics on a little circuit board - emulating a coin going thru hopper optics.
This anti-theft device was a special option added to some S+ hopper's towards the end of their run, to prevent slot cheats from using their hand optic tool.

Thank you for all the great help. I ordered new optics for the door. Everything seems to be working again!!!
Only minor issue now is the volume is kinda low...
The speaker ohms out ok according to the manual..  My parents are trying re-program the volume...  But they aren't getting the letters showing according to the manual.

On top of the MPU enclosure tray might be a round, blue knob...turn it slightly to raise or lower the volume.
