Title: S Double Diamond RS chip Odds
Post by: wcb@dswa.com on January 19, 2023, 10:58:16 AM
I have a S Double Diamond, from 1987, and the game works great but it is tight and I would like to get a chip that has better odds. I currently have a RS3441 but I am not sure what % it is. I was told The RS3441 is 92% but that was from someone trying to sell me a RS3285 which they say is 94.7%. Other posts say that the S and S+ chip numbers are the same but I wanted to know if there was a list of RS chips for Double Diamond with the odds listed. I have looked at the SS list and SS3441 is listed but not at 92% and I do not see a SS3285 listed at all. I know this machine is old but it does work very well, I just wish it would win more.

Thank you in advance for any help.

You've got it as good as it's going to get for your machine.  See the attached information for a 2CM Double Diamond.  There were only 4 S slot RS chips made and yours is the highest.  SS3285 is for a S+ Red White and Blue machine.  RS chips are used in S machines, SS in S+ machines. A S slot has the game prom and the game paytable in a single EPROM.  In S+ machines they are two different EPROMS (SP and SS chips).

Thank you for the information, that is exactly what I need to know. I have had the machine for years and all that time I thought it was a S Plus until I tried to change the chip and found out that it was not a Plus.

Glad to help.  That's a bummer.  The early S+ machines and S slot look nearly identical from the outside so it's understandable, especially if you don't know what differences to look for.  The RS chips used in the S slot can be difficult to find too.
