Hello, hopefully this is the right place. i also bought a non-working s2000 5x pay. I have replaced the mpu and now just have single red flash. i was getting a netplex error on the front but now I have no readout. occasionally the bil val will cycle. lights work. All the fuses i could find are good. As far as i can tell, the varta has been replaced with a button style. Please help.
-
update.. i dc'd the mpu and now the bill val cycles and the display reads "display's netplex link is down." i think i am missing something simple...hopefully

You probably should have started a new topic, but that's OK, a mod will likely do it for you.
Not sure what you mean when you say you "dc'd" the mpu. Do you still have a blinking red led on the MPU board?

i mean i disconnected the mpu just to see if the display and bill val still functioned
-
and yes still have red light flash when the mpu is plugged in
-
When it's installed you still have a blinking red light? Post a picture of the MPU board so we can see the game chips. Photos have to be less than 1MB in size to post, so resize as necessary to get under that limit.

mpu

Where is the BASE chip?
-
i am sorry, i don't know the answer to that or even where it would be
-
okay i see where it goes. is the base chip game specific?
-
Yes. It has an S+ reel chip so you just need a SB001000.
-
Yep, it won't work without the Base chip. It should be SB001000 in your case.
-
If you don't have the SB001000 base chip that belongs in there I'd remove the SS chip and get a SB100050 2CM Dbl 5X Pay base chip for it instead. That allows you to select different payback %'s where the SS chip with the SB001000 is a fixed payback %.
-
Looking at your pic there is a leg on chip GM2 that is not in the socket.
-
great thank you for the help. I will get those and update
-
and replace the gm2 chip. thank you erbs. i read on here to replace the sb1000 with the sb100057
Yep. If you own an S2000 the clear and key chips are good to have, a must really. At the same time grab the SB100057 and replace it with the SB1000 after removing that SS chip. Set the machine back up to the denom and percentage you'd like and you're good to go. I recommend a battery swap during all this also.
You're running 365 SG chips, which will work, but 363's are the 'go-to' if you plan on numerous game changes in the future, those are tried n true.

remove the SS chip and replace with SB100050 2CM Dbl 5X then which base chip do i get?
i am sorry for all the dumb questions, i truly appreciate the help
-
The stepper base SB100050 goes in the 40 pin blank base socket, just remove that SS chip.
-
And you don't need to replace that GME2. Just remove it, straighten the pin and put it back in. Those 523's GME's are fine, there's no need to replace them.
-
got the gm2 reseated. thanks again.
I won't need an SS chip at all?
I just need to replace with SB100050 2CM Dbl 5X?
I only need to purchase one chip?
-
That is correct. Contact member RB he can probably set you up with one.
