S2000 Hopper Test Exits Immediately When Attempting a Test in 4 - IO Test

I installed a coin kit on my s2000 which has @Home TITO, MEI BV, gen2 Printer all programmed and working.

The coin comparator is working well, the hopper limit is now set to 1000000 and coins are directed properly to the hopper as expected.

I don’t need the hopper to function as it’s really just a big piggy bank. However since I bought it I do want to ensure it works so went into Section 4 - IO Tests and went to Hopper / Printer and attempted to perform a Hopper test.

There are no credits in the machine :-)

When entering the Hopper test it for a half of second displays turn the jackpot key to start dumping quarters, however immediately exits the test thereafter before I can even read it or do anything. All other tests work for other devices such as the printer just not the hopper.

I suspect something is bad on the hopper or maybe something else with the harness.

Anyone ever see this before?

Had a chance to try the hopper in my other S2000 machine and the hopper works great in I/O Tests.

This means something is going on with the harness &/or somewhere else?

Changing a hopper harness cable easy? Looks to be connecting to the backplane as well as elsewhere…

Compare your hopper wiring harness between the two cabinets.
Check every wire...there's not that many.
Something could be different?

If the wiring is all good, swap the cabinet I/O card.

Thanks guys I’ll give the I/O card a change first as the wiring seems ok to me since that is easier and report back.

I swapped the card next to the MPU as that has more to do with the hopper than the I/O door card with no luck. I will next try the door I/O card soon and may end up needing a new hopper harness if they do separate from the main harness otherwise just leave it be as its not used...

Hi Joe,
   I had a similar problem a long while ago. The culprit was a wire that got clipped when the casino data systems were removed.  It wasn't easy to see, until I separated the wires .  after the wire was repaired, all was well.
