That is a IGT Fortune one.
Step one would be to remove all socketed chips, clean their legs with a pencil eraser and reinsert.

Those are very old TMS 2716 EPROM's. They operate with +5V, -5V, and+12V and take a special programmer.
Today's programmers don't have that feature.
Normally they don't cause the scrambled video.
The first suspect is the 5101 RAM chip, remove it and install a socket for the replacement.
The next would be the video RAM's. 2114 or 2102 depending on the board design.
You will need a fast O-scope and some schematics to troubleshoot further.

i think i have a socket left over from the jackpot jungle a couple years ago ill look into finding the ram online
thanx again for info

If replacing the RAM doesn’t work you can send the board to K-Lar and it will come back all refreshed and working.
-
ive sent in a request to k-lar
thanx for info

board here and running graphics look great /now i think theres somthing wrong with interface board buttons wont light up wont take coins
-
Pretty amazing how nice they look after Alan reworks them.
Does it accept credits if you flip the micro-switch wire on the coin hopper?
There might be a reset procedure on F1, is there any mention in the manual?
I suppose it could be the interface board but you need to be sure the hopper and coin mech are all properly seated, etc.
-
90% of the time the problem is with the coin switch.
Try putting a jumper across the normally closed and common posts on the coin switch.
Do the button lights come on when you press the related button?
The serial circuit starts at the normally closed of the coin switch then loops through all buttons then through the backplane
jumpers , then through the meter reading and reset switches.
Try taking the handle end of a screwdriver and wack the coin switch body a couple of times, sometimes that knocks all of the dead electrons
off of the switch contacts and give the switch a little more life.

not very good with the lingo dont no where f1 is ?
ive tried the wire on coin mech took apart all wire jacks inspected and reattached
the coin mech selinoid is suck in when machine is on
jumped micro switch on coin mech cant see any action anywhere on screen or from led on interface board not sure if that is a thing I read in the manual you can do a test in idle mode on switches useing the leds on interface
but i get no response ,,,,if im in idle mode,,,,I do get the led to light up when ever I hit reset key micro switch or meter switch
ill keepn chippping at it
thanx guys

F1 is short for Fortune 1
-
F1 = fortune 1
That’s to easy
I’ll go into manual in depth after work
Thanx freddie

put a meter on micro switch on coin mech checking for continuity on com and no move switch nothing/ i do have continuity on com and nc but i thought when i move wire on switch com -nc ,,,,nc should open and lose continuity
ill see if i can find another switch////
took switch off machine and check it and it works
put switch on machine without wires hooked up and it doesnt work
i think stuff is just flopping around inside there
orderd new switch
freddie

between my fat fingers and bad eyesight
wire jack at bottom left of backplane board when i was checking for bent pins when i reinstalled it i was one set of pins off to the right

Did it ever work? You may not have a sound board.

It does not have a sound board
Still fun to play

Congratulations! I love playing F1s, even if they don’t have sound.
