Title: IGT Odds Card
Post by: alexmarison on February 09, 2024, 10:44:44 AM
:mail_2:I recently got my gaming license to have slot machines in my shop. I know next to nothing about slot machines. I’m trying to figure out this first machine that I bought. The reseller had no info on it.

In the menu I have a few Game Options: IGT-AVP; IGT-044; IGT-039; Reserved 1-4. It came set on IGT-AVP. Is that where I should leave it? What’s the difference?

Inside the machine, I see a card that slides into a slot that says: M/N IGT14930203. Is this what tells me what kind of system I’m running. I see a lot of info available for IGT S2000, but I’m not sure if there what I have. I need to buy a key, but I’m not sure which key I need or even how to find out which key I need.

I see a long metal box with a little button on it which when pressed makes a menu pop up on the screen. I can access the payout tables for each game in that menu. The box has a handle to pull it out, but when I pull, it does not come out. Is there a trick to getting it out?

The payout percentage options are way to high to use to make money. They range from about 90%-99%. A friend played on the machine for an hour or so and won like 10k credits starting with $10.

Do I need to change out chips inside that metal box in order to see different payout percentages? When I look up SB chips online, I see options for different games, but I only see one chip option for each game. If the SB chip is what I needed to change out to see different odds, I would expect more than 1 option for them, like for high odds and low odds, right?

Every search I do on changing the odds/payout, only tells me how to access the payout schedule in the menu; and to buy a key to be able to make the change between the options available. But what I want to do is to change the percentages that are available, not change between them. I can’t find anything about how to make the machine profitable.

Any help would greatly appreciated. I know nothing about slot machines, but I’m trying to learn!

It would be in your interest to post a clear, readable photo of this menu, an the machine that you're talking about?
From there , our members may be able to help you more.
I do have a question for you tho.
Which gaming commission issued the gaming permit?
There are several.

Yes, please post pics of the machine in question.  Pictures have to be less than 1MB in size to post, so resize as necessary to get under that limit.

I’m located in the city of Chicago, so our licenses are issued by the Illinois Gaming Board. Sorry about the late reply but I’m been trying for the last 2 days to figure out how to post pics here. Why can’t it be as simple to copy and paste!

First pic is pay odds.  Set monitor to 044 not AVP.  That is a 17" 044 Game king machine not AVP.  Looks like superstar poker set.

You need a keychip to change the games from 98% to something lower.

OK I was wrong, it's 19" game king cabinet. No more pics needed. You just need a keychip.

That’s what I’m seeing whenever I look up how to change the payout. To buy a key. I’m ordering a key. But 90% (or more on some games) is the lowest option that I see. Is that really what slot machines in a casino are set to? Or is there a way to make them (more) profitable? To set the payout to at least 50%? What do I need for that?

You can only go as low as the lowest box.  50%???  :Scratch-Head: May as well get a gun, rob them, and be done with it.  :24:

Holy !#$ The Illinois Gaming Board wouldn't allow you to set the percentages that low, would they?
Don't they give you some guideline sheets to follow?  :Scratch-Head:

Illinois allows more varieties of gaming machines than any other state.  Class C, Class B, historic horse machines, electronic bingo machines, skill machines, VLT's, pretty much everything you can think of.  If someone develops a game whether it be a classic casino slot, or a gray area legal loophole gas station machine, a "charity" machine, whatever gimmick they come up with-it does not matter, as long as they have the money, there is a crooked politician in Illinois who will gladly get it approved.  With that being said @alexmarison I think that you have the wrong machines.  Simply plugging in a few old Game Kings and letting people play isn't likely going to make you the money that your hoping for, and if you don't have it configured correctly you stand the chance of someone hitting for a lot more than you ever realized was possible. if you want to maximize your profits and if you know nothing about slot machines like you said, you should probably partner with a vendor who will supply you with the most popular and profitable games in your area.  Use that as an opportunity to learn and give it some time.  You will get to a point where you can make the decision about whether or not you should invest in some machines and continue on your own, or you may realize that its not worth doing and that your better off sticking with a vendor.  Or you might decide that its all too much of a headache for the amount of money your making.  Time will tell.  Last summer I met some guys from Illinois who came down to my state to try to grease the palms of some elected officials that are pushing for a gambling expansion here.  They were with a company called Accel Amusements or Accel Equipment I think.  They seemed very knowledgeable and talked like they had a lot of machines in Illinois.  I'm not endorsing them and don't know anything about them other than they provide machines to bars and gas stations.  I would suggest that you get a consultation from someone who vends machines in your area and just listen to what they have to say.  You don't have to commit to going into business with someone but I think you will get an idea of what is realistic for your situation.  Get a few consultations from different vendors.  This is not the place to get legal advice about operating machines, and I don't you will find anyone here who can tell you how to set your Game King so it eats money.  If you do I would suggest not listening to them, they probably have no idea what they are talking about and not to mention you will not be successful operating machines that are too tight.  Good luck with you venture

I tried playing a "Royal Flush at all costs" strategy (to see if I could get one before the 23,081-hand average it would take to get one with this strategy) and I quit after 8,300 hands because the game was too boring and mind-numbing — and the final payback percentage was 45.4%

Can someone link the key chip I would need to buy to change the payout settings?
