S+ Ram Clear?
« on: January 26, 2023, 12:45:46 AM »
I changed the battery on a Double Diamond S+ machine and I ram cleared it,(twice with 2 separate chips). When I put the game chip back in and turn the machine on I get this on the display.(pictures). It appears to be an 8&1. When I take pictures, camera is faster than my eyes, I it’s actually going 6 1, 7 1, 8 1, 1. So I tried pushing while test button to see if I can move forward to 61-1. Nothing happens. I’ve never seen this before and I was wondering for my next step, What would be the best. Should I try the board in another machine, Take the Game & Reel chips and move them to another board. Try some “known” good Game & Reel chips in this board? I was wondering if there’s a good order to try troubleshooting this that someone has come across? Try to do this without corrupting Any “known” good components. THANK YOU, TAKE CARE,
Dan.

“SOLVED” I kept messing around with this machine board. I moved the chips to another board and it Ram cleared a setup fine. I had some extra S+ game, reel chips and I put them in the trouble board. I started a ram clear and noticed if I tapped on the MPU tray the display would change. I found a COLD solder joint on pin 9 of the game chip socket. After resoldering display didn’t flicker/change anymore.
