I have a Bally 22/22 that has been converted to a Bally 22/32 and I am getting an error when trying to factory reset the cabinet. The error is in the picture. If anyone know of any answer on how to get this game to let me factory reset it that would greatly appreciated!

Try replacing the SSD drive in the mpu.
-
I plan on trying that in the morning with a brand new drive. Hopefully it will solve the problem. I will update afterwards in case anyone else runs into the same problem. Thanks for the reply!
-
Replaced the HD with a new one and the problem still persists. This time when I ram cleared it, it actually passed but gives an error when trying to load the game and still will not let me factory reset. Gives same error. Still working on a solution.
-
hmm, try replacing S-ATA cable? Also no space on /tmp/xxx that's the temporary ramdisk that is created, I wonder if there's something going on with your RAM?
-
I replaced the SATA cable, moved it to another connector, tried a HD out of a one that works, also put in a stick of 4G DDR3 ram but when I did that the game wouldn't even boot. I am going to try the ram out of the machine that I have that works next to see if that works. Thanks for the suggestion!
-
If the 4GB stick came from a 2.1 box and is 1rx8 configuration, it won't work on a 2.0 box. If you want to put a 4gb stick on a 2.0 box, you need to make sure the ram configuration was 2rx8.
-
Ok, did not know that. Thank you. I will keep this in consideration if I do decide to go with 4gig. I'm hoping that when I replace the ram with some out of a machine that works that the error will go away because I have 4 of them doing it. :banghead:
-
You have 4 of them doing it, what version of the bios do you have on those, and what version of the installer cf card are you using?
-
The install is 269344B and the bios that is installed is 194162B. The bios I am trying to install is 274277C if I'm not mistaken. Also I am trying to install 370B OS.
-
You may need to flash bios before you wipe the drive as the format structure might have changed.
-
That is one thing I do not know how to do. Could you enlighten me with the process please?
-
You pull the write protect jumper that is next to the bios chip on the mpu (toward the back right side, the bios flash chip is inside a square looking socket with double doors). Then you boot the machine with the install card and the OS bundle card (one that includes the bios and the os on it, most of the newer ones already include both). Then just tick the bios part only that belongs to your mpu, the system will not install an incompatible bios, so you really can't mess that up. I always make sure to have the machine connected to a ups in case there's glitch while the bios is being flashed.
-
Awesome! Thanks for this. I will definitely give this a try and inform you of the progress.
-
The problem is the install card, you need the 227274D to be able to update the BIOS because the current version is too old, in addition the install 269344B does not work in the mpu 2.0
-
Well figured out what was causing this. The bios chip that is inside the double door socket is wrong. I replaced it with a known working one and the game works. Now my question is, is there any way to reprogram that chip in order to make it work or possibly another solution?
-
If it was an old bios, you can just flash it with the proper install cf and OS cf bundle. You can also use a flash programmer compatible with the chip, and duplicate it into the one that doesn't work.
-
My apologies. I will search around and see if I can find the right bios chip to purchase.
-
That information violates TOS on this website, but when I need to find out what parts or tools I need for a new machine, I just pull the chip out of the socket and see what it is and go from there.
-
I got a few of them to work after having the bios flashed but still have a few giving the same error even with the correct bios on the chip. Do you happen to know what install works with mpu 2.0?
-
I've been using 227207A with both 2.0 and 2.1 mpus with no issues up to OS 370B.
-
I'll have to look and see if I have the install or not. Thanks you very much!
-
Seems one of them has installed everything correctly but now I get this error message and turning the key does nothing. See attachment.
Also, where can I find how to donate/contribute to this site seeing how it has been very helpful?
-
Never mind. I didn't see the link at the bottom about contributing. I must be blind.
-
perform a clear (not a wipe/install) just a clear. make sure you power down the cabinet (both power switches).

Figured out why it was giving me the new problem. I forgot to disconnect the write protect jumper. Now the game came up and let me go through all the settings. Thanks for all your help so far Rick.
