Title: Cleaning Circuit Boards
Post by: ljwayne5451 on November 30, 2020, 12:36:13 PM
Hi All, I have a Bally Video Poker Game (V2336-10) circa mid 80's I believe. The circuit boards in the board stack are very bad in need of a good cleaning. What is the best way to clean these boards when they are very Groddy for lack of a better word. Can they be placed in some solution? Don't want to try a power up until they are cleaned. I saw that someone in a jukebox group put boards in vinegar to clean. Has anyone done that?

thanks
Larry

I would get some 95%+ rubbing alcohol and put it in a pan then scrub them with a small brush.
Pull them off the tray and remove the rust.

Paul, Thanks for that information. I found a 99.9% industrial grade Isopropyl alcohol I can use. With the alcohol I would not have to wash the boards off then. The alcohol will not leave any residue behind, correct. It's the top board in the set that is bad like this and the other boards seem very good but could be cleaned as well. I have rust remover for the board rack parts. Anything else I should do?
Just for my information I looked up industrial grade and medical grade alcohol. Only difference is Medical is done in a clean room.

Thank you,
Larry

Yes the alcohol  will evaporate with out residue.
Just allow to dry thoroughly before use.
