Title: Inverted colors
Post by: Nepa Coin Op on March 28, 2018, 08:35:50 PM
I've seen bits and pieces of discussions about the inverted vid used in these games ..... I have one here with a 1492 with inverted colors ..... where are these signals flip flopped ?? On the game pcb or the monitor chassis ?? I've also heard of jumpers used .... where is the location of them ???

Thanks any help is appreciated

Have you check the capacitors on the chassis? If you go to the down load section under monitors, you will find a lot on the 1492 Ceronix chassis.

It could be the monitor or the chassis. You won’t know for sure unless you have some good known parts to work with. There are a lot of different parts on the Ceronix chassis that can cause your problem, from the plugs pin out, to bad components on the board. There are 3 color card on the opposite side of the board from the fly back. Each controls the Red, Blue, and Green colors. Any of those could be bad. I’ve seen some pretty weird thing, and that’s what make it hard to trouble shoot one like this.

The inverted colors come out of the PE+ and are inverted at the monitor.
You can prove this by plugging in a standard monitor - you will get inverted colors.
I have never looked for jumpers on the monitor. There are none on the mother board.
There have been some well documented hacks to the mother board - changing video chips etc that just seems too hacky for me with jumper wires etc.

I thought the standard PE+ monitor was a 1423 but I am going from memory which has been known to be wrong before.

Here is a $380 fix...

I never took into consideration that the CRT my not be correct for a Ceronix chassis.

That's the factory CRT .... I had a juve on it too ... all is good with the CRT as far as being compatible with a 1492

There are solder jumpers on the back of the monitor board that need to be set.
See attached.
It could also be the wrong CAPX chip on the game board.

I don't think it would be the "wrong" capx chip if it was working and now it suddenly isn't but I wouldn't rule out a bad CAPX chip.

I would reseat it as well as the other MXO, MGO,MRO,MBO chipset.

The IGT jumpers and make sure no other ones are jumpered.
I've seen that inverted color problem when a monitor jumpered for CEI is plugged into a IGT PE poker.
Removing the CEI jumpers and connecting the IGT jumpers gave the correct colors.

Have you checked then solder jumpers on the bottom of the 1492 chassis in question? These 4 jumpers are the only 4 used when a 1492 chassis is used in a IGT Video poker machine. All others must be blank.
