Title: IGT draw poker machine- screen is blank
Post by: Danger86 on August 12, 2015, 09:35:21 PM
Hey everyone,

I was looking online and happened to see a IGT Draw Poker upright. Model 1071c. Guy states it turns on but screen does not light up. He's asking 100. Thoughts on what the issue could be and cost? I was thinking a bad tube or monitor but I'm new to these so I don't know if it would be a good deal to buy and fix.

Any advice is appreciated.

Often times people will say the machine "turns on" but doesn't work. By saying it "turns on" they are referring to the general lighting, the fluorescent lights inside. Those lights simply run off 115vac, so they will work even if the main power supply, or the mpu board or other things are bad. If they say the machine makes playing sounds, or buttons light up, or other activity then maybe it is working and just has a dead monitor. But you would need further testing to know. If it is nearby you could take a look at it, make sure it doesn't have any parts missing, that there isn't a quart of water or a catfish in the hopper, etc. If you have a similar machine then that would help you fix it if you decide to buy it. And if nothing else you'd have some spare parts for the other machine. Someone here mentioned the other day that Ceronix (the company that usually makes the video monitor in these machines) charges a flat rate of $75 to repair the monitor, plus shipping charges.

At $50 I'd probably give it a shot, but I'm cheap.  :garfield:

I'll message the guy and get more info on the issue. Thanks!

There is a large 4pin connector on the motherboard (small board that the mpu tray plugs into). On the S+ these are a frequently marred with a small burn.
The lights light, but the reels are limp. Basically the MPU isn't getting power. Wiggle this plug, shine the pins with a bit of sand paper and it comes back.

The PE+ is the same architecture and has the same connector. If I was a betting man.... this is what I would check first.

I would also run my finger across the screen and see if it is getting power. Tube screens always have a static charge that you can feel when the monitor is on.
