Title: IGT S+ 10mhz and 16mhz board pictures
Post by: knagl on April 11, 2014, 05:39:52 PM
Thanks to therockinelvis for these pictures, attached for reference are pictures of an IGT S+ 10mhz MPU board and an IGT S+ 16mhz MPU board.

Either board may be used in an S+ machine, however the 16mhz board requires a SP (REEL) chip (http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=303.0) that is designated as being compatible with a 16mhz board.

There is no particular advantage to using a 16mhz board on an S+ machine, and a couple of disadvantages:

Note, however, that some S+ machines, typically those with special features such as Barcrest games (Top Dollar, Pinball, Hit the Top, etc.), require the use of a 16mhz board and chips.

Top picture, 10mhz.  Bottom picture, 16mhz.  Note that the 16mhz board does not have the blue volume dial, nor does it have the bank of DIP switches that the 10mhz board has.
