My Denver Duck was working fine the last time I played it. This time when I turned it on, it goes through the start up, spins the reels and then shows a Closure M, Coin-in Jam, and Call Attendant error. Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Is it a coinless machine? How long ago did you play it?Usually this type of error is caused by a bad door I/O card (there are 2). With the power off try reseating these two cards and see what happens.

It has a coin mech in it but I've never used it since I've had the game. It sat for 3 or 4 weeks before I turned it back on last time.
Those two cards look to be identical. One of them however, has a small rectangular item up by where the wires plug in that is burnt.
I would assume that this is it? Next question, where can I get one?
-
Here's some pics of the card.
-
The cards are probably not the same. One will have the number ending in 801 and the other 802. Sometimes there are two 802 cards and yes placement matters.
That card is toasted badly, you should look around for other signs of burned wiring between the card and the MPU before you replace it with a new one.
Any of the vendors on this site should be able to help you.

Looks like the 802. Should have had a plastic shield on it.
-
I have replaced the 802 card but still have the same errors.
What do I do next?
-
With the level of burn on that first card make sure you go back and check the wiring all around that area I would also think the other door card may have suffered. You may want to replace that card also and check for bent pins on both cards.
-
I have checked all around both cards and the wiring and the MPU and have been ubable to find any other signs of burn or heat.
All pins are straight on both cards.
-
OK good, did you replace both cards?
Are you still getting the same error message?
Not an indicator if the cards are good or bad but you should at least see a small yellow LED light on each card at least indicating they are getting power.
Is this the only S2000 that you own ( easier and cheaper way of trouble shooting).
-
I tested and sent a 802 card so that is know working.
-
Still getting the same error message. The replaced card has one LED on and the other has two LEDs on.
This is the only S2000 that I own.
-
OK good we know you are getting power. I'm still leaning towards replacing the 801 card. Ken should be able to help you.
-
Mine has two 802 cards. Are they the same?
-
Yes they should be. Some machines do have two 802s. Just for grins try changing card positions.
-
Swapped but still the same.
-
Just saw this on the MPU.
What does U67 do?
-
OK you said it has a coin mechanism, have you tried reseating all of the plugs going to the coin mechanism?
I did one time have a legitimate coin in error that turned out to be the optics below the coin comparator were bad.
-
What's with all the burned hardware? Surge or lightning strike??. Not sure what U67 controls but you will most likely need a new MPU.
-
I don't know of any surge or lightning strike unless it happened when I was not home.
It's turned off most of the time if that matters.
It does look like I need a new MPU though.
-
OK, I've got a good MPU, another 802 card a clear 097 chip and a key31 chip coming from Jim @ Midwest Slots.
Is there a procedure for the MPU swap? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-
Carefully remove each chip one at a time from the old board and reinstall on the new one. Make sure you get the chip orientation correct and that you don't bend any pins.
You might get away with a few jackpot key turns and just a key chip to reset your machine. If not:
The clear procedure is the same as any other S2000.
Remember the touch screen is not operational in the set up screens you must still use the panel buttons for navigation.
Clear procedure is a PDF in this post

MOST important!!! Get a Good SURGE SUPPRESSOR for your machine before you do anything else. A $10 investment is like gold in the bank. On or Off a surge or lightning strike will get your machine, unless it is unplugged. I cannot stress it enough. Your computer and TV's too.

Installed new MPU and 802 card, powered up, a few key resets and the Denver Duck is Quacking again.
Many thanks to all that helped. I'm expressing my appreciation by extending my membership.
