Title: SAVP Door Open M, All Doors Show Closed when NOT Closed.
Post by: Ash100 on April 07, 2021, 09:51:08 AM
I've got an SAVP 3 Reel Game that I can't get the Door Open M error to clear.

I'm not exactly sure what switches will indicate it to be closed.

I believe it's the pair shown in the photo, but when I pull the top one the service light goes out. So that tells me it's good. Could the bottom switch go to the door indicator?

I've figured out that the F Door is the front drop door controlled by the Optics, it's working.

Any help or clarification would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yep that other switch should be the cause of your door open M. (both those switches need to be closed)

If you do not have the button deck closed all the way or that circuit not satisfied it will show M.There is a thread where I went through this.Follow a multi pin molex connector that only has 2 wires hooked to it.  Make sure that is connected.

Thanks Mark,

I'll have to look around and find a new Cherry Switch and give it a try.

Thanks Slotman. It's sometimes hard to figure out what goes where on these things. There's a few Cherry Switches that don't seem to do anything.

You could probably bypass (jump) that switch and still get open door M if/when needed from the other one.

Still having the Door Open M on this SAVP machine.

I changed out the 2 Switch Housing with one from a different game, same problem.

Not sure where to go next.

Thanks, Curtis ash100

It may have active door optics also???  G23 cab has a place for them, that's all I have to go by.

Mark,

There are Optics on the Drop Door which I believe is Door F. When I close the Drop Door, the F extinguishes.

When I close the Middle/Reel Door, I get no indication it's closed other than the Service Light goes out. It's the one with the 2 Cherry Switches, which I just replaced. I believe it is Door M.

I'll try going into the Diagnostic Menu and see what I can find as far as door signals go.

Thanks, Curtis ash100

Yes there is a place for optics right above the two cherry switches for door M, and also on the door on G23.

This is an SAVP Reel Game.

Only Optics are on the Drop Door.

It's configured just like my other SAVP Cabinets.

Thanks though.

My apologies on the Optics post above.

Yes, that door does use Optics just like the Drop Door.
They were not installed, guess the casino needed them. It took me a while to figure that out because you can barely see where they mount when they're not there.

Si, I pulled a pair from my stash and aligned them the best I could and still nothing. I've been adjusting them now for an hour and cannot get the Door M indicator to extinguish, which leads me to believe they're not properly connected on the other end.

I'll pull some components out of the way and see if I can follow the wiring to the backplane or wherever they hook up.

Thank you again for the suggestions.

Check out this thread it may help: http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=30758.0 (http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=30758.0)

Read to end - may be missing a jumper a few different places including the button panel.

Times I had open door issues and it was not the switches was the battery on the power distribution board, another tech pinch the main door wires behind the power supply, bad serial ATA card. Usually, when all the doors are open then closed expect for the main it is a sign that something greater is going wrong.

Back on to this game again, still can't get the Door Open M problem solved.

Does anyone have a diagram/schematic of the Door Optics System handy?

I'm going to start at the Backplane and work out from there, but with so many Jumpers and Switches it gets hard to follow.

I'm thinking I've got an open ground somewhere between the Emitter and the Backplane, which leads me to believe there's a Switch or Jumper missing somewhere.

Thanks.

Update,

Saw a post from a while back about machine displaying all Doors Closed when they were not.

Eventually this game ended up the same way. Would not recognize eKey or Loaders. Never showed any Door Open indicators.

Changed the Brainbox and everything works as it should now.

Any idea what controls the Door Signals within the MPU? Read that it could be the Ribbon Cable, but it stayed in the machine and appears to be fine.

Topic Solved, but still would like to know which component caused this condition.

If you're talking about circuit board repairs, I'm not sure but it doesn't it sound like an IC board component shorted out and stayed stuck in a position so that the door remained in a "closed" state?

The only way to find out what component switch controls that would be to look for it on a sheet of MPU schematics I would think.

Hopefully someone that repairs AVP MPU's could comment on your question.
