Well, it appears that the dashpot seal has turned to tar. So, are these available? Or, has someone found a suitable replacement to use?

I my self don't use the cup seal. I just remove it, clean up the mess and apply a thin layer of grease.. Someone had found a seal that worked with a little bit of a mod.. If you surf this sight or the old one, you should be able to find the thread...

McMaster Carr in Los Angeles has a cup that works. Their on the web.
I've used a 15/16 brake cylinder cup and I believe the hole I made in the center is 1/2, but double check that dimension.
Also some cup materials are lubricant sensitive and possibly deteriorate faster than normal.

There is absolutely a thread on the archive about replacing the rubber cup. It does work after a little modification. If you cant find it I will look for one for you and sent it in the mail. I have one around here somewhere.
