I have checked the dip settings, swapped bill head, transport, mpu, power supply, and backplane at various times with known working ones and still will not give credits when a bill is inserted. it deposits in the cashbox and cycles normally. this one is really buggin me. :banghead: thanks in advance

Try a new set of Mains and Personality chips
-
Did you check the wiring between the DBV and the backplane? Sounds like there is a disconnection between the two.
Please update on whether or not new chips fix the issue.
I had a vexing problem with my V7200 DBV-145 not working. I swapped out everything and it turned out to be the MPU board. Took me a couple of years and a few hundred bucks in trial-and-error.

thanks for the replies, i dont think new mains will remedy because i swapped mpu with different mains and problem remained. ill go through the wiring to the backplane and keep you poseted, thank you
-
It kinda sounds like the bill validator is just not able to communicate with the slot in order to add the credits.
An oscilloscope would be a handy diagnostic tool in this instance in order to verify that the signals are being sent from the bill validator.

Did you try turning on DIP switch #1 of the 6 switch pack at the bottom of the DBV200?
-
i did try the dip switch, same results. its weird because it will take my 1 dollar bill add no credits and be ready to accept another bill, however when i put a 20 in, it takes it, adds no credits, but then turns red and not ready to accept other bills until i open and close the door. im going to ring out the wires today
-
wiring rings out from acceptor to backplane, unfortunately dont have a scope
-
What is the history of the problem? Did the bill validator ever work with it since you've owned it? If so, what changed?
This really reminds me a lot of the problem I had with my V7200. I know that it's a different machine, and a different problem, but I sympathize with the frustration of trying many different things to try get it fixed.

its a customer of mines machine. they claim it did work once upon a time. it originally came in for dead battery and a general cleaning and check up. everything was business as usual until this. the only other time come across this before in my 15 years was on a williams, and it turned out to be a power supply issue.
-
Oh, I didn't realize that you have a repair shop. Cool!
That's a vexing problem for sure.
I wonder why the validator will take a $1 but get upset about a $20...
-
What is the credit limit set at?
-
800, but like i said, it still wont add the credits for a dollar :Scratch-Head:
-
did you ever get tis issue resolved....I have the exact same issue
-
Hope someone can help I have the same issue with my machine, accepts the money but no credits.
-
It's a problem with a chip U34 on the MPU or the GRAY ground wire on the BV harness at the backplane needs to be moved . Look to see if you have this gray wire in this position , 3rd from the left. Gray wire needs to be in this position.
-
Moving the grey wire fixed problem, thanks so much! Problem solved. :applause:
