This beauty is available for only $2000 in Southern California. I could fill my gas tank or buy this slot machine. Hmmmm.

Not only did that give me a laugh, but it reminded me of when I purchased my first slot machine.  It was in 1966, and I drove to Las Vegas with absolutely no idea where to buy one.  Someone in a casino told me to try a slot route operator - one of those folks who puts slot machines in convenience stores and laundromats, and pays them a percentage of the profits for use of their facilities. I found an operator who sold me a brand new Mills 5 cent High Top for $100.  I had so much fun with it I came back two weeks later and bought a Mills 25 cent High Top for $125.  I was hooked after that.

Over the next 9 months, friends, neighbors and relatives deposited $1,600 in those two machines (factored for inflation that is $14,000 in today's money).  I then took a five week leave of absence from work (it was the slow season) and had my first real road trip across the country, paid for by the slot machines.

10 Years later I had a business buying, selling and restoring old Mills Machines.

Great story. That defining moment should be your profile “about me”.

I think his text tells it like it is Worth "25 to 50000.
I would by it for $25.....  :rotfl:

In all fairness - it cost him nothing to post the add... if someone calls him up via Craigs list (as one does) and lowballs  him $1500 ....  SOCAL is a highly restricted state so some people may do the deal as there are certainly not going to be a lot of slot shops in the neighborhood, and if someone goes on line (as they should) and finds one in Ohio for $300, Mr. Ohio is not going to ship illegally and risk a big fine, being shut down or both.

Jay do you mean where I am Southern California? We do have the 25 year and older law but nothing seems to be enforced on CL or Offer Up.  There's some "still too new" machines here and many are priced quite reasonably. I've bought S plus's and S 2000's for stupidly low prices! I got an S2000 for $100 from someone last time. He just wanted it gone. Right now they seem to be prices in the $400 to $1500 range and none are selling quickly. Some are EM's, others S plus/ S 2000. Someone out in the desert was selling AVP's for awhile but he's vanished! So maybe he got a visit? The only slot shop here is LA Slots and they're a bunch of A-holes in my opinion.  :24:
