Title: Bally S5500 coin in issue
Post by: Phan000 on October 11, 2022, 05:38:42 PM
This machine had a bad end on the coin comparitor harness.  I replaced the end.
With door closed,  comparitor does not light up.

Replaced comparitor, still nothing.

Coin switch on the outside of the board is up.

Optic light is on & button allows play.

Do the switches on the outside of the board fail?

The bill validator cycles normally by will not accept bills.

Maybe a sign of a bad board?

Seems like that switch is not working properly.

Not sure what to try next.

Can you post a picture of the comparitor harness connected to the comparitor?

When I performed an input test, the coin comparitor is lit & accepts the coin.

The machine has been cleared a couple of times.  Would any default settings need to be changed?

Maybe a dipswitch out of place?

If the coin comparitor is powered and functions during input test, then it has to be an issue on the board, correct?

I looked through a lot of old threads, but didn’t see any related issues.

Wish I had a different board to try.  Feel like it is the switch itself.

So the coin in and BV used to work?

It was broken when I bought it.

Came with BV and cash box removed as well as the broken CC harness wire.

This issue was finally resolved.

Previous owner removed bill door lock, but had not jumped the switch.

Figured it’d be something silly. :duh:

Did you have a 54 or 55 error code?

Not that I noticed.  Just main door which cleared when closed.

Now another issue-  DBV 145 is taking cash,  but not adding credit

Still having issues with this machine.

It is taking bills, and not giving credit.  Input test showed the machine processing the bills.

Would replacing the two game chips be wise?

Backplane? Really sure what else to try.
