Title: BB2 nvram file system corrupted
Post by: RenoBabyBoomer on December 06, 2022, 10:46:48 PM
It's been 2 steps forward and 1 trip and fall after. I just got TITO and a new printer installed and working, and when I touched the printer housing to advance the ticket, static discharge. Never good news.

In restarting the machine, the system halted with the nvram file system corrupted error, followed by NV or HD initialization failure.  I did a RAM clear, then reinstalled the game which produces the same system halt. Other than installing a grounding rod in my game room that I can touch every time I enter, what do I need to replace next???  HD is obviously hard drive, but is there something else I should try first?

Also, I read in another topic that games will run from the CF cards without a hard drive.  Would disconnecting the HD and doing a RAM clear and game install be a good way of eliminating the HD from the problem list, just leaving the NV ram problem which apparently calls for a new CPU board.  I ordered a Kingston SSD drive just to have one on hand. It was only $16.

The only other glimmer of good news is that my AVP arrives Thursday.  I hope it doesn't need any tinkering with and that I can avoid having to start topics in that forum as well....

Did you check your mpu batteries to make sure they are good and not shorted out?

Rick, you are indeed the bomb!  I had the 2032 batteries handy, so I replaced the board batteries, did a RAM clear, then the game install.  After configuring the game, all is well including the new printer and TITO.

I can't thank you enough for saving me the $300-400 I was going to spend on a new CPU, although with my luck having a back-up wouldn't be such a bad idea.   :thank_you:
