My name is Mike and i am new to this forum. I've always been interested in gaming machines mostly slot machines, but living in California my entire life I don't see to many of them. I've always wanted to own one but never come accross one I like that I can also afford. So I have decided (as I'm sure many others have in the past) to build my own.
I joined this forum so I can document and share my machines creation. I am well versed in several programming languages and am currently in the process of writing my future machines software. For now it will only be running blackjack, jacks or better poker, and a videoslot.
One of the big requirements I have for my machine is the ability to accept and pay out coins, so operation of a coin hopper and accepter will be integrated into my software. Once complete I will also release my software ,probably open source, for others that want to build a machine.
I start vacation tomorrow and will have a lot of free time this coming week to get some coding done. Honestly I don't know if anyone would even be interested in such a project, I guess we will find out.

Being from CA does limit the AGE of slot machine you can own. You can have anything 25 yrs or older legally, but that's not to say there are not people who have machines that are not yet 25 yrs old in CA! You can probably find a Video Poker machine that is 25 yrs or older on Craigslist for a few hundred bucks. Some even have multiple games (6-8 games).
We have had others attempt to do what you're doing, but not sure of the outcome. We have a lot of brainiacs on here that I'm sure will help all they can. I know we have some members that do some pretty cool customizations to arcades and similar machines.
