Title: S2000 Door Open M issue
Post by: playwitslotmachines on May 18, 2015, 08:13:13 PM
Hey guys,  it's been a long time since I've been on NLG since I was busy with work, friends, :drinking_too_much:  sports :soccerball3:  and ongoing renovations. I have a 5 reel Cleopatra slot machine I haven't played it for months since last summer, I turned the machine on for the first time since then and it throws up "Door Open M" on the display. It shows it when the door is fully closed. I tried re-aligning the door optics and messing around with it but that didn't work, :hissyfit:  checked the belly door and the cash can but that didn't solve it. :banghead:  I'm not sure if I missed a step or if something is wrong somewhere. :burningresistor:  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks  :Tongue_Out: :thankyou:

First place I'd look is for corrosion around the 3 cell green Varta battery. The 500 series board have an issue with them leaking and damaging door optics traces that run underneath that battery.
Now if you don't have a 500 series board in your machine and/or it's not corroded or leaking, we'll have to look elsewhere...

So if there is acid leaking out, would cleaning it solve the problem? I saw a post where they used a vinegar-water solution or something like that.

Really depends on the amount of damage, but check your board first to confirm type and possible damage

Also make sure the coin battery is above 2.7 volts that can also cause board errors.

Okay so I inspected the board, I found there was corrosion on the Varta battery terminals and a little bit on the two resistors. So I tried cleaning it with a vinegar-water solution with a paper towel, followed by water repeating the process, let it dry for five minutes, slid the board in, turn the machine on and it was still doing the same problem.  :duh: :hissyfit: :banghead: :hissyfit: :duh:  So I repeated the whole process again and again. I almost had it running though at one point. I'm not sure if I missed something here..... :Scratch-Head:

The acid has ate the traces. There have been a few on here that soldered jumpers to repair the traces, unfortunately I have never had any luck and just replaced the board. I think I have 3 boards with that problem.

So do I have to replace the whole MPU board? This is the first I ever did that

If you're confident the issue is corroded traces and soldering jumpers across the bad spots isn't an option then yes, replace the board. Your chip set and multi media board (if it has one) can be transfered to the new board. Contact one of our supporting vendors for assistance with a replacement board. If the new board has that green battery installed when you get it, remove it, it isn't meeded for machine operation.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, first I'll see if I can remove the green battery and then fire the machine up without it. If all else fails, I'll replace the board

I removed the green battery from the board, cleaned around the area, sparked up the machine and (tada!!) it works!!! :love_whiskey:  So the machine works from removing the green battery without replacing the board. Thanks for your help. K+ to all  :1: :1: :1:
