Title: Just need a quick answer

Can I use a machine here in the shop to clear and reset a board from a machine out in the field? My boss brought in an S+ board with a dead battery. I'm going to replace the battery here, but I'd like to get it ready so he can just put it back in without worrying about doing a clear or set should it be necessary. Otherwise, I'll have to go do it so he doesn't screw it up.

No, unless you send the backplane with it.  The MPU/Backplane are mated for security reasons.
