New bug: I was subscribed to this topic simply by posting a reply. The default behavior should be that folks are not automatically subscribed to topics they reply in.
I'm not wholesale opposed to the notion of instant messages or a chat room, but is there a way to implement it so it's more of an opt-in situation on a dedicated page, and not forced on every page I navigate to throughout the site?
I agree with Kevin on this one. I like the idea of having chat available but users should be able to turn it off.
Like Kevin said, I don't like how it is constantly there and re-maximizes...its kind of annoying. Maybe you could
set up a stationary sidebar like Facebook?
I DO like the chat ROOM concept. People can go into a room if they're feeling chatty.
If possible, I also think Instant Chat should show only your "Buddies" like on Facebook to help keep it private.
We could have public Chat-ROOMS for everyone. The PM system still works if you want to msg someone
not on your Buddy List.

I notice that when I "quote" a post that has quotes inside of it, I only get the primary post contents, not the other quotes in the post. By definition, that also means that it won't automatically nest quotes that are quoted, too.
The site has always been setup to quote the full post, including other quotes within it. I'd like to see it work as it has. It's easier to delete the extra post text if it is unwanted than it is to hunt back through the thread gathering every quoted post to reconstruct the thought stream.

I've seen it in other forums, but NLG users aren't used to that sort of viewing. I think that whatever was causing the "endless load" was the problem. I wonder if it had something to do with the chat room software?
Not sure if it is a BUG or intended but after you reply to a post it takes you out of the topic.I did not see a reply to this. It's the first thing I noticed.
It would be best that it returns you back to where you were. I know some topics get a lot
of replies and getting exited every time you reply then finding the topic to get back in seems
counter productive.
re try and time it if you can so i can find what setting it is..I'm pretty sure the default was 60 minutes which seems about right. The issue is that you could be in the middle of a long post and you will lose everything when it times you out when you click the post button. Perhaps this is the way it always worked (I always leave the keep me logged in button checked, but had not checked the box yet). But it seems that on other forums it doesn't actually log you out until after you leave the site no matter what the timeout is set for.
This would screw me up because sometimes I'm making repair video clips and it takes forever to upload/download from youtube to stick onto a Reply when tryna help somebody... :arrowthruhead:
I'm on-call all the time and sometimes gotta leave the NLG post unfinished until I get back from the floor.

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but I am seeing the red x for some images. The first is in the arcade area and appears to be NLG hosted images. The second seems to be an external linked image.
Was playing Gold Miner Classic in the arcade and got this error when one of the games was over.

Yeah, my DSL is the fastest you can get and it takes 5 to 8 seconds to load. There is a lot to load
on the front page, I would guess.

I noticed that a persons site badge will change depending on where I see themyep this is the way it's set up if your a moderator you have special powers in that topic... and a moderators badge...

I realize that Joey did you a favor, but virtually ALL of the emoticons now have different labels, so none of the old code in posts, signatures, etc. will work.
Everyone will need to replace any emoticons that they want to work with the new code.
The new forum has a "feature" that tries to use "user-friendly" WYSIWYG in all of the text boxes. (e.g., reply boxes) That means that you'll see the picture of the emote in your typed text when you add it to your post instead of the code.
To get the new code for an emoticon, click on the last icon on the right in the second row of icons in the full reply/new post screen. It's under the "change color" combo box and has a blue arrow framed by two red brackets. That will toggle the text box back to the old view and you'll see the code(s).
Note that the codes are cAsE sensatIve! It sucks, but that's the way it is.
Also, PLEASE don't ask Joey to change any more codes to the old labels because it will only end up breaking all of the new references here. That means every place anyone has used it by clicking for it on the new forum -- including posts, PM's, signatures, etc. The change to the AZ flag was early enough that no one has used it here, yet, so it won't make a difference.

I tried to upload some documentation into the file area and received an error message stating that the "maximum download size is 4.77mb". The file I was trying to upload was indeed larger than 5mb.
A user gets like 5-15 or maybe more minutes to edit each post after posting it without it saying it has been edited.Even after it has been posted to by another member???????? I'm having a problem with subscribe to topics.
It seems to work for a day or two then I do not receive any updates.
If I log on the site still shows I am subscribed.
If I toggle it off and on it will work for another day or two.
This is happened on classifieds and mikhon progressive topics.
Not sure if it has anything to do with logging on or off the site.
I typically log off each time I leave the site.
Also my member since is 1/2013 if you could change that.

Yeah, that's what my browser (Firefox) menu shows in the address bar as well. It's the main forum topics page, and it logs you out.

So what gives with the tiny little font size that shows up on messages from time to time. I just got a pm that had that phenomena. Sometimes when I post a message, it shows up with the tiny print and have to edit it to get rid of the font stuff. How does it get put there on the first place?

It's people using the WYSIWYG version of the text editor, and not really knowing what they're doing. It's unfortunately enabled by default. I turned it off for my account as I prefer to use the old (standard) method of typing posts.
You can disable it for your account by visiting the Look and Layout ([url]http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?action=profile;area=theme[/url]) section of your profile, unchecking the bottom checkbox ("Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default."), and clicking the "Change profile" button to save your changes.
