Title: 8825 "Time date Invalid" Is she dead, or can she live again?
Post by: RILaw on February 24, 2016, 09:55:40 AM
So I received a call from a friend of a friend.  He has a VLC 8825 displaying the following:

Time/Date Invalid 44
Reset Door
Coin Tilt

I am assuming the battery died, and she is now a boat anchor but figured I'd ask here and see if there is any new info on VLC's since I tossed one I had years ago when I could not ram clear it.

Please let me know,

Thank You

Well, looked at this turd today while I was working on the owner's other slot....Batteries are dead, it's garbage..... It's a shame no one repairs these boards anymore....

just an idea,,,

Would the VLC Mini RamSet procedure work on this type of failure where the battery died? There is a sticky note posted in this forum that talks about how to do this, it is for a different model VLC machine but it might be the same process since they are both from VLC. You power off the machine, remove the security chip from the board, power back on and let the machine reset itself and clear ram. Then you power off and reinstall the security chip. I suppose you would install a new battery before doing this procedure.

Here's the link to that sticky note:

Also, there is a complete VLC manual in the NLG files area, not the same model you are dealing with but may be close enough to be helpful.
