Title: Bally 5500 bad reel?
Post by: Phan000 on June 07, 2022, 10:14:02 AM
New machine, previous owner stated it just quit one day.

Replaced battery, moved jumper,  tried to clear, no display.

When machine is powered on, only the lights come on.  No bill Val noise, no display flicker, no tension or reel movement.

Failed  power supply I’m thinking?

Got the power supply module.

Machine cleared and tried to start reel cycle.

3rd reel stutters and refuses to spin smoothly to end of reel strip.

Problem follows reel to middle location (swapped
To #2 in video).

Reel motor is bad?

Might just be a loose/broken wire on that reel.  I would check all wire connections and clean the optics on that reel while you are at it.  I have never worked on a 5500.
