Title: Bally Mustang 903
Post by: henko666 on August 01, 2022, 12:06:10 PM
Hallo. So I started to work on this Bally Mustang 903. Some very clever previous owner  took both beau plugs (male and female) for the hopper. So I'm trying to colour match the cables from the hopper to the chassi. But only half of the cables seems to match and the schematics don't seem to help? Also the hopper has 22 cables going out and the chassis has only 18 comming in? See the pictures below. Any ideas or tips anyone?

if you have a 903-A, the cabinet wire colors should match what the schematic says.  If you have a different 903 model, then the schematic for the 903-A may not apply and you have a lot more work verifying where wires are going.

the hopper plug would also match the schematic plug chart and the wire colors between cabinet and hopper plugs match at each pin position.

if your hopper has different color wires, it's probably the wrong hopper.  Is there writing on the hopper and is the payout counter M-645-144?

if the hopper is wrong, it may still be possible to use it ... it's just work to see where each wire goes and mate it to the appropriate cabinet wire.  Fortunately, bally mostly kept the same wire colors for the same functions, so most wiring is just match-the-colors.  You still need to verify tho.

Best to determine what you’re presented with.
Gather information on hopper plugs and sizes.
It appears there’s one of each in this situation.

Possibly someone on this site has an identical machine and be willing to help out.

Suggest re-place missing beau plugs starting with the female stationery socket.
Wire it according to the correct schematic for that machine.
Make a detailed drawing of the wire code and location.
Attach the corresponding wires to the male plug pins.
NOTE PLUGS ONLY MATE ONE WAY.

It’s possible the hopper and machine will operate.
The extra wires on the hopper would operate other functions that your machine is not wired for.

Best to take time and methodically break it into small steps.

i did buy a machine that had incorrect beau plug so i went through a few different ball schematics and managed to grt it working
1st note what payouts there are
2nd look at other things like supply to payout relay ,hopper motor, any lamps powered from the hopper
3 i found that the payouts wire colours were pretty consitent across the models along with other colours like the 90 wire were easy to sort
if your starting from scratch its really up to you where and what order  the wires go in
