Recently bought a bunch of games and os CF cards
I am looking for the USB Test Comm tool to change firmware on the oled button panel for my machine , would be cool have the light show of these buttons again ,
a bit of direction on how to plug in the tool would be great too ,

Usually if the firmware needs updating, the game will do it on the first install.

Like Eddie says but you need to use the newer versions of the OS for it to new that. Much easier than using the button deck software. It's automatic

seems like it won't downgrade the firmware , i'm trying to go from jungle wild 3 to a older silk kimono game , and no luck getting the button deck going ,

What version of the OS are you using for downgrade? Also, if you used 16B1 to 16B3 it locks the deck so you can't downgrade. Best to use 16CJ for upgrade and 1496 or higher for downgrade

My Bad, I made a typo, it's 1490 that updates the deck but if the deck it locked you have to unlock it with a 16CJ or a 16F0

Allright ! It Worked
I had a OS Card that was SSSG-000-16B8 in my card piles , {bought a box of games and os cards off of ebay } ,,
So to get the button deck unlocked //
First you Ram Clear the machine
Then you load in the 16B8 card and whatever game works with it ( would be a newer game )
Then you setup the machine and exit to game ( this gets the oled deck working again )
Then shut off the power and do another ram clear
Then load a older game with the SSSG -000-1490 ( the older firmware will auto load onto the deck )
Then Disco ! it works !

also no one offered the firmware button program ,, must be hard to get or something ,,

Your welcome. This issue was discussed long time ago. Sometimes it is better to just do a search, and 9 out of 10 times you can find the solution to a problem by doing a search.....in this case LOCKED BUTTON DECK produced this topic.

yep i know , if we just sercherd everything ,no one would ever have a discussion ,
sometimes its nice to be able to communicate with people who have the same interests ,
