Title: Kp3 and kp3.5 backwards compatibility
Post by: Hertz14 on December 11, 2023, 07:04:44 AM
The Konami site states that the concerto cab is backwards compatible with kp3. Does anyone know what this exactly entails?

Here’s what I know and have tested:

Winning animals/wealth of dynasty are kgi_L games on a 4gb cf card with a boot sector made up of kgi_M modules. From what I can tell, the 3.5 cpu needs this boot to start up but is compatible with a single 3.0 game as long as the boot is there. I have tried loading up a kp3 card and I get a boot loop. I have also tried a kp3 cpu and the video output gets all messed up. Main monitor becomes the top, and the main is now blank. The button panel is showing what the top monitor should be. Would this be due to the topper adding a 4th video requirement that the 3.0 vid card simply can’t handle or cpu configuration is just not set up for it? Furthermore, I have never seen a Selexion with 3.0 games on a 3.5 cpu. It would be nice if I could bounce back and forth between a 3.0 and 3.5 game set, much like we can on a podium for K2v and kp3. Just looking for some thoughts here.
