Back up Hard Drive G23? SSD?
« on: March 12, 2022, 09:24:22 AM »
Surely this is here already somewhere. I apologize for not being able to find it.

How can I back up the hard drive in my G23?

Can I use an SSD in the machine?

Thanks!

You will have to clone to a SSD and yes you can use it. Do NOT use windows.

These are not windows based operating systems. If you attach it to a windows based computer bad things are likely to happen. Just warning you

You would have to mount this drive to your computer to clone it. That will not work. Windows would make you format it first because it uses QNX.

I get that I need to stick with Sandisk or PNY, but is there a size limit?  What will yield the best performance?

Thanks for helping a noob!

this is what I use in all the avp's i build: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6JQS8C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1.  Always has been trouble free.  You will run out of nvram on the motherboard well before you ever come close to filling a 120gb drive.

Just have to make sure the SSD size is equal to or greater than the HHD you are cloning. Have seen 80, 160 and 250gb in games.
