Bought 3 ticket printers off of ebay that said they would work with WMS. All 3 didnt work. Its not the machine as I tested a different printer and it worked.

So if anyone has a working WMS ticket printer, let me know. Send PM. Thanks!

Just an FYI when shopping for used printers: Depending on the ID tag on the side, a lot of Netplex printers were OTP for IGT (One Time Programmable) and can not be reflashed. JCM did that to reduce costs on the IGT order, I guess (per JCM Tech Support).

Can you do a self test print to see what firmware is on the printers?

Rick - When I first got the printers, I think I sent you a photo of the firmware. I just moved and when setting everything up at the new place, I forgot that this machine didn't have a printer. Let me see if I have the picture of the printer out, otherwise I will find where I put the printers and do it again.

Yeah, anything GUR is serial, you need the GUN one. Shipping is so expensive though, I have a friend who can flash those here locally. Maybe someone local to you can flash them to the right firmware? You need a special cable to flash it.

I agree with rickhunter, although the WMS games utilize an RS232 printer, the firmware is a netplex version for WMS games, that is why the baud rate on the working printer is 19200, which is a normal baud rate for any netplex printer, the reason the other does not work is because it is an RS232 firmware as evident by the 9600 baud rate. Flashing the Gen2 Universal printer does not require a special harness though, the printer can be flashed in the game via a USB cable. The only problem I foresee that may happen is that the printer may not be set up to receive netplex firmware, their is an update to the universal printer which allows it to accept either netplex or RS232 firmwares. But to do this you need 2 files that will need to be downloaded into the printer and the FLDFU 2.2.3 at a minimum to do the update.

Does anyone know what it takes to flash the Gen 2 RS232 printers for WMS?

I assume a flash program, the correct cable and the flash file?

I have a couple of printers here but have no idea what firmware is in these.

Yes to all 3. You can print a self test page and it say what firmware is on the printer.

I haven't done this in awhile, like back in 2010. You need program FLI Download (Install_FLI Download V200019BetaC) or 2.2.1
It takes about 3 mins to Download

Nexplex Ticket Printer

Hook up Ticket Printer and make sure that there paper in the Ticket Printer
Or it won’t compete download

Turn on the switch on Power Supply for the Ticket Printer
(Note green light on Power Supply shows you that the power is on)

The Ticket Printer should have a green light on at this time
And on the computer on the upper left side there will be a green check mark

Click on Start Auto Download and a hand will show with an x on it
That means it downloading at that time

(Note it saids Printer Error in the middle of the download that means the printer head switch is not making connect)

Just before it done it will kick out the and wait until you see STP V 6.1.1

MAKE SURE YOU TURN POWER OFF or will blow Ticket Printer MPU or
Daughter Board and there not cheap to replace

Put the another Ticket Printer in and put in paper and turn on

Then Click on Abort Load then you will see the green check mark on the left

Now you can click on Start Auto Download

Test Ticket Printer to make sure that it works properly
The cable our Locker #14 Bank 229-01 the wires in the game long enough
So you can get the plugs

Non IGT Ticket Printer

Click on Icon SIUD Load
Download takes about 3 mins

Startup Help
Click ok
Then Click on 24.VFX and click open

Download Configuration
Comm. 2 on this computer

Hook up Ticket Printer and make sure that there paper in the Ticket Printer

And on the computer on the upper left side there will be a green check mark

Click on Start Auto Download and a hand will show with an x on it
That means it downloading at that time

Then go to any Konami, Ticket Printer dips should be 7and 9 on

Gen Ticket Printers
(Note for game play on the Dip SW’s Pack Nexplex #2 ON and RS232 #1 &2 ON)

Before you can Download the #2 Dip SW is ON ONLY

Next make sure there is a Bottom Rail in the Ticket Printer (note there a cut off or short Rail in the box ,if needed)

Then apply Power and the Data Cable (4 pins connector)

Then Feed the paper in the Ticket Printer

(note there must be no TILTS on the printer or the Ticket Printer won’t Download
like no paper or Ticket Printer Door Open)

Click on Icon FLI DOWNLOAD (Blue Icon on the top left of the screen)
Download takes about 3 mins

Click on Preferences Box

Then Click Select Firmwaare

Choose the Program Click Open click on middle box click Save then click on upper right box

COMM 1 show Status

The Ticket Printer should have a green light on at this time
And on the computer on the upper left side there will be a green check mark

Click on Start Auto Download and a hand will show with an x on it
That means it downloading at that time

Just before it done it will kick out a ticket with the version on it

Wait for about 20 sec. then pull power

Put your next Ticket Printer

And click on Abort and Click on Auto Download (and do same thing again)

Gen Ticket Printers

(Note for game play on the Dip SW’s Pack Nexplex #2 ON and RS232 #1 &2 ON)

Before you can Download the #2 Dip SW is ON ONLY

I might have one. Will look.

In my BB1 I select Ithaca 850, on all others I select Netplex...
Not sure why.
