Correct. The architecture will only recognize up to 2GB even if there is 4GB installed. Just install one 2GB stick, not both. If you have a machine with two 1 GB sticks, take them both out, install the 2GB stick, and now you have 2 x 1GB to upgrade other machines.

I don't know if these MPU boards support "dual" channel ram but the difference would negligible in this application anyway so running one 2GB stick is fine.
